It seems to me that many of us like guns like the P7, P9S (my favorite) and other oddball guns due to an appreciation of the inherent engineering perfection in them. I liken it to being an afficianado of fine cars like Porsches or Ferraris. For some people a Corvette gets the job done just fine (and that's great too), others get a kick out of stuff with a few more special touches like a Ferrari F40. Whether any of that "extra" stuff is necessary will always be a debate.
My only gripe about the P7's is that, out of the few that I've held, the cocking action required a bit more force than I would prefer though I'm sure after handling one awhile it would become second nature to me. I still think they are cool though and will eventually have to pick up one. The thing I DO love about these guns is how compact they are, yet they still maintain a full size grip and barrel. In a world of more modern "compact" (seems the terms gets used loosely these days) blocks of guns, it's nice that there is stuff like the P7 that isn't larger than it has to be. I never understood why people consider stuff like HK P2k's/USPc's, Sig P245/220 compact, Glock 26/27/30, etc to be "compact" as they are still relatively thick and bulky in certain areas.
