I have two MKIIs and two Buckmarks. I have shot all four extensively.
The Buckmarks are more accurate, and have better triggers than the rugers.
The buckmarks are also more reliable with standard velocity and low velocity ammo.
Since both sides af the buckmark breech are open it is easier to clean than the Ruger, and all of the trigger parts are out of the way of the powder fouling, under the grips as was pointed out (just like SIG P series pistols, trigger bar and springs are under the right grip), the Ruger has all trigger components under the feedramp where they get filled with crud everytime I shoot it.
The Buckmarks have the same grip angle as a 1911 and the controls are in the same place.(rugers 22/45 shares that feature but with a polymer grip frame).
Both of my children prefer the Buckmark standard 5.5" to either the 5.5 barreled stainless or the 4" barreled tapered blue Ruger MKII I own.
