You've got your Resident CWP. Name the two non-resident permits you want ....

Your SC CWP is good in FL

Why the FL Nonresident with a SC Resident? As far as I can see that only gives you DE. Looks like CO and PA only do resident FL permits?

Just curious, it may just make it easier if you are in FL that much.

Well, when I got my FL non-res some years ago there were a lot more states accepting their non-res permit. Things have been changing rapidly in the past few years with many states now having a training requirement in order to reciprocate and ... something happened that caused Florida some reciprocity issues, I forget what it was ... things are in flux for sure but I've kept the FL non-res current.

SC has had their training requirement for at least two decades now because of that POS Senator Jake Knotts (yes, he's the one that called Nikki Halley a raghead) and now there are a half dozen more ex-former-LEOs in the state legislature that are all willing to side with the Libs when it comes to carry rights ... because they feel that they know better than the citizenry when it comes to firearms carry and safety and all that bravo sierra restrictive reasoning ... it is infuriating that all six former-LEO legislators are Republicans. And they vote very Conservative on everything .... except they keep busting our bollocks when it comes to Constitutional Carry (sic Open Carry without a permit) and reciprocity agreements with other states who have no training requirement ... like Georgia for instance, a border state.

The wife and I investigated claiming residency in Jupiter where our second home is located but it would be a tax shock (sales, tourism, property, gas) down there and we would get hit with a second home tax here in SC that would not be offset by the lack of state income tax down there ... nor would the permit issue be worth-it given our main travel is either to Jupiter (FL) or to my brother's place on Devil's Lake, Michigan and I'm covered and good-to-go to carry in both of those states and during both peaceable journeys.

We don't drive to see the two older girls in California and Portland (we fly) and I don't even attempt to carry when we are out there. I avoid those two places like the plague ... we do some skypeing and face timing with them but we've not been to see them since the last grandbaby was born.

You can get an unrestricted MA non-resident permit that will allow you to carry. I've had one since 2017, and I got it when I was living in CT.
I was under the impression that a LEO had to sign off that you had reason to fear for your life/properly? Or did having a carry permit in another state exempt this restriction?

There's no requirement to have anyone sign off. On the permit application, you have to give a reason why you need/want it. When I took the MA class, our instructor told us that you just have to have something that sounds plausible. In my case, I was in corporate management for many years and was threatened more than once and had my car vandalized by disgruntled employees.

I assume that you had to take that class, which has to be given by a MA certified instructor. If so, he or she should have gone over that.

I didn't take a class with an MA instructor. I took the SIG course and the NRA basic course, both of which are on the list.
I appreciate the heads-up!

Okay...you are correct...a little confusion on their verbiage. I understand what you were attempting to do now.
I sure wish they'd change that! I am a very infrequent traveler, but it always seems I need to travel to places with laws that mean I can't get a usable permit there!

The only two states, that I frequently visit, that my current Kansas permit does not cover, are California and Oregon. While I would like to add them, they do not offer non-resident permits.

Since this thread opened, I finally recieved my Florida non-resident ccp. I applied in February iirc.
According to the handgun.us map, im good in 43 states with my Illinois, Utah non-res, and Florida non-res permits.
Before I travel, I will confirm that the non-res permits are acceptable. Some states don't recognize the non-res licenses.

California, Oregon, and a handful of east coast states are off limits to me....but not my beloved Maine!
