Just got a Yugo Tokarev. It went through a box of ammo with a few stovepipes, but suddenly, the mag would not re-insert. It stops about half way up the grip. I can't see any obstruction.
Any ideas?

tack off the grips and disassemble the gun, for field stripping, hopefully its just the trigger bar or the added thumb safety has become dislogged from its detent and it will hang up the safety and magazine,

Note you can completely remove the thumb safety, as it was added in order to import the gun and tends to add problems, the original safety on the gun is a half cock position on the hammer.

You can completely remove the safety and fire the gun properly, you will just have a round hole in the back of the gun.

If you continue to have problems with the gun , I would sell it or return it. The situation with these guns is that they either work or they don't, most often you can't repair them. No parts or anyone that knows how to work on them. My brother bought one from gander that they screwed him on and couldn't repair it and failed to honor there waranty on it.

halfway up might be the magazine interlock.

you need to look inside, field strip and remove grips (do NOT try to pry them off, they're latched from the inside in a somewhat unique fashion)

I agree - take the grips off.
If you need, use a flashlight to see up the mag well.
Turn the bar that keeps the grips on & then you can reinsert the mag & should be able to see the obstruction.

Please repost if you figure it out or if you still need more responses.
