What do you think of this rifle:

http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/Yugoslavian_AK_M70AB2_7.62x39_Under-Folder_Rifle.html

"Back.. in Black! New Yugoslavian AK style M70AB2 Semi Automatic 7.62x39 Rifle with Under-folding Stock Now with black synthetic handguards. Built using Original High Quality Yugoslavian parts. These Rifles feature New manufactured Heavy Duty US made receivers and New US Barrels. This Rifle has the best Fit and Finish of any AK type Rifle we have seen, very solid and well built. Includes 2-30rd magazines, no other accessories included."

Who made the US receiver and barrel?
Are these any good?

DCI made the recievor, thats a fact. RUMOR has it the barrels are cold hammer forged stainless. All i know for a fact is that they are not chrome lined, are more accurate then standard CUGIR made chromed barrels, and are at the very least least 4140.

Sounds like the one I have. These are Century builds. They are built on DC Industries receivers. I don't know who makes the barrel.

That said--If they are Century stay away. I have had mine replaced by Century twice. The original one had the gas port over-drilled through both walls of the barrel and it leaked gas between the barrel and gas block when fired. The second (a replacement direct from Century) had the front sight canted so far to one side that it was impossible to get POA on the target. The third has the gas block installed slightly canted off center, but it works ok so I decided that was the best I was going to get.

YMMV.

To add: I have heard that somebody else (Vector maybe?) is building Yugo M70's too. Maybe they are doing a better job.

I *think( green mountain made the barrels.

DCI makes about the best US made receiver around. Not much good if the monkeys don't set the headspace correctly or cant the sights or who knows what.

I like the Yugos and like Aimsurplus, so if I was in the market I'd probably risk it (I think AIM would take care of you regardless.)

On the other hand, look at the troubles guntech has been having with his century stuff. I've got a rifle that needs to go back, but it actually works now and I don't want them dorking it up.

The website has them listed out of stock anyhow. :) Maybe look over at www.classicarms.us?

My Century Yugo is really nice . . . except for the somewhat improprerly installed Tapco G2 trigger. One of the hooks occasionally works itself loose and prevents the trigger from resetting. Thought I had the problem solved after I first noticed it and corrected it, but it has recurred again on the range recently. Pretty easy fix, though obviously not suitable for any kind of serious, possible self-defense use, etc.

Otherwise, pretty nice rifle.

So, basically, it's a Century and would bear some scrutiny. I don't think I'd go for a Century Yugo via mail order and FFL transfer. If you can lay hands on some and cherry pick a good one, it's probably a good bet. But buying one blind is something I wouldn't do.

yes, get it from classicarms, i have gotten four (two each m70b1 and m70ab2) for $419 and $429 respectivly, they have all been in perfect condition. I have sent two WASR's, one wasr-2 and one wasr-1 back to century for gas block problems, the first was loose and blowing gas all over the place, the second was not even moving the bolt at all (not pinned over the hole), both came back strait and working, but like 2 months later and with peening from the sloppy ass hydrolic press work they did either staking or driving or removing the pins/block/sight. my luck with the DCI/Century M70's from classicarms has been awesome though, they are all A+, and 3 are "Zastava-Kradjuvac Yugoslovia" marked with the cool Z zastava logo :D

the barrels are made by Green mountain they are not stainless they are hammer forged steel (hammer forging makes for an extremally hard barrel with very consistant dimensions as opposed to button rifled) the Century Yugos are a best buy deal us builders can't even begin to match the price as we are payin retail for the parts Century isn't

Century does not manufacture the Yugos. They contract out with a builder.

I'm not sure that makes a difference. I've heard of canted sights with these, but that's only a rumor (and probably wouldn't repeat it if century didn't have a very, very spotty reputation).

That said, I love the tank-like over-engineered Yugos.

Not a rumor, I have held it in my hands, seen it with my own eyes, and paid for return shipping to get it replaced.

Very, very bad workmanship.

Century is hit or miss. This was my first semi-auto from Century. I have purchased several bolt-actions that were imported (but not made) by Century. After this 2X replacement (3 total rifles) saga, I will be strongly considering never buying anything that the monkeys at Century have even touched. At the very least, I will inspect it CLOSELY before buying again.

Well, whoever the builder is, they were obviously trained by and have the same work ethic as the usual Century drunken monkeys.

YMMV. Unfortunately, often they are the "only game in town." The bolt-actions are nice, but their house-built semis have a LONG way to go.

After my CETME I SWORE!!!!! I would never own another firearm made by the drunken monkeys at Century. Then I picked up my M70AB2 from Center Fire and have been very pleasantly surprised. It looks and functions perfectly and I love it. Now I have the UltiMak rail system on it and an EoTech 552 and I gotta say it's very accurate for an AK. Although the Ultimak bottom rail system interferes with the under-folder somewhat (FYI).

I have been selling Century AK's for over a year now and I don't see the problems talked about in this thread. I have heard of their past AK's had problems. I believe the AK's they are producing now are very good guns. I have one myself and I could have any AK out there. I put a good finish on it, a rail system adj stock and red dot sight. I would put it up against any AK on a tactical coarse.
