Zeiss Conquest

I've used Leupold VX-III, Nikon Team Primos (Monarch), and a Zeiss Conquest while hunting. Zeiss is the clearest by far. It's also the heaviest and longest.

I own 3 of them and will likely purchase a 4th. I also own Leupold, Burris, Nightforce, Bushnell and a host of cheap 3rd world scopes that I don't even remeber the names. The Zeiss for me is the best bang for the buck.

Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20 is excellent. It was $800 for a while, but is up to $1000. The glass is excellent, and turrets are wonderful. Compare to Sightron SIII 8.5-32 or Burris Black Diamond 8.5-32 for about the same money.

Zeiss Conquest is as good as Leupold VX-III's, I think.

Reticle is sharp and image is clear to the edges. Rapid-Z is easy to use, and I recommend that one.

Eye relief (4 in) is long enough to use on Ruger #1's without offset rings.

Thanks for all the input guys! The trade deal didn't materialize on the Zeiss, but one did for a VXIII 8.5-25x50 LR.

Honestly I really dont see the point in spending that much money on glass for a gun. If it was a photographer sure, capturing an image that will only be there at THAT point in time, sure. But for just shooting an animal I dont see the point. Im not saying go spend 75 or 100 bucks on some cheap "Trashco" scope either. Just find something in the middle. I find that Sightron is about the best bang for you buck. btw, look on Manventureoutpost.com for just about the cheapest prices ANYWHERE.

why do some of the conquest come with target turrets and some do not. It should be an option for all. Cna you buy after market turrets?

EP1990,

The Conquest is Zeiss' budget scope and is in about the same price range as the Sightron II. I have one of the Sightron I series scope and there is no comparison. I understand your point, the Zeiss Conquest or Leupold VX-3 is about the upper limit that I am willing to pay. There is a huge difference between a $400 scope and a $200 scope and I consider $400 to be middle of the road. I cannot see that there is much difference between a $400 scope and a $1,000 scope however.

I have three Conquests: 3-9X40, 4.5-14X44 and 6.5-20X50. Very pleased with all of them, especially the 4.5-14, and consider the Conquest line a good value.

CrazyCarl7,

Zeiss can change the turrets if you send it in. I think target turrets are only installed on products which would appeal more to target shooters. I.E., my 3-9x40 Conquest is a popular hunting magnification range. Not much demand for target turrets. Higher magnifications are a different story.

I take it you have never looked through a Swarovski! Do yourself a favor and don't,or you will have to start saving your pennies for one. After getting one,all my other scopes are just junk.

The difference is like comparing a Kia to a Ferrari!

At low light, I liked the conquest over my vxII leupold.

The conquest is a very sharp scope for the money, the Swarovskis that were better were also considerably more money, and in the range of the victory scopes
