Skills are skills, and ballistics are ballistics.

A guy can calculate the necessary angular or linear lead for a clay based on its speed, distance, and relative angle of flight and the differential speed of the shot load, but it’s a lot of work which doesn’t help much in the field. Alternatively, in rifle shooting, knowledge of external ballistics - “weaponized math” - is well employed in the field.

Tools for tasks…

Contrary to popular cynical opinion, you can’t just buy precision without skill behind the rifle. Shooting a rifle accurately remains to require skill, beyond just the knowledge provided by a weather meter and ballistic solver.

Shotgunning and riflery are simply different skills.

My apologies for the jab, meant as a return to the idea of shotgunners seeming less refined. I have an enormous respect for those who wield a firearm that requires so much instantaneous input from the shooter while offering him little advantage. It is a skill set I have attempted to acquire that eludes me still.

I will take care to traverse the High Road in more diligent fashion and again, my apologies @Turkeytider
Thanks, no problem guy!
