I have been looking everywhere to find out what the meaning is for the V-Comp in the S&W revolver.
Other than the obvious compensation that the barrel has, what is the "V" part....The compensator on mine is not V-Shaped...
That Police link website could be anybody...I just signed up myself (to test if there is any credential check)....nope!
So taking their word is not really a solid choice either....Its better to check the larger police offices directly by calling their armories...
Back on Track
Took some time off (save back up after having a too good to pass up offer on a Noveske N4 rifle)
I pull the trigger Friday (after Thanksgiving), and in all truth I am still stuck between 2 (maybe 3) guns..
1) M&P-40(love the fit and feel, and just keep coming back to this...
How important is the receiver anyway?
When shopping for receiver replacements (or starting point) I see only Ruger, Tactical22 and Valquartsen.(there are more but these are the only "main stream" commercial results that constantly come up in every search)
Is the receiver "that" important...
...of certain brands (not worth the $) or go for others that are under-rated?
What I need is (Barrel, Trigger Guard Assembly, Bolt Assemble, Receiver**most important***).
Feedback on any of the 4 items above would be great...(I already have a carpenter in my family that makes all my stocks)...
Noveske is one rugged machine...They are combat ready and tested...
Colt too, but for value a great upper is the RRA bull barrels (plus they have many size options in 2" increments from 24" down to 14"(and smaller)
18" is very uncommon. It's a nice compromise between a tactical 16" and longer...
To preserve my rifles crown and bore I have been looking to get a bore guide. The issue is that there seems to be no standard sizes, some are for cal's:17-22 and 23-45....but others are from 17-30 and 30-50......
I have a Remington m700 223 and am looking at:
1) Stoney Point Bolt Action Bore...
Know, Shop, Buy
Every time I buy, I have the exact Brand-Type-Weight.... then after searching I find that different stores (most mentioned already) will have better deals on different ammo.
Some reason Midway gets my Black Hills 223 ammo slightly better deals than most, but the Federal 308...
Expanding on what gazpacho said: (Trust the manufacturer) but at the same time, a 223 round is tiny so expansion will be much less significant than that found in a traditional hunting round...ie .30 (30-30, .308Win, 30-06)
1) 223 is not intended to expand, rather to fragment and create maximum...
Hi ENENEN
Since you got the Stag could you provide a little feedback?
I saw RRA has an 18" bull barrel that is right between the 16 and 20 you mentioned.
I also read a great article that summed up the velocity vs length dispute quite well:
For every 2" of barrel you gain or lose ~45fps of...
I have a Remington m700 VSF 223 26" 5+1 1/12"-twist Bolt action Rifle.
I want to know if anyone has personal experience converting a hinged floor plate design to a magazine fed well.
My interest is to take a great gun and make a conversion project. I dont want to offend anyone who is a...
Thanks
Hi Guninthinwater and burningsquirrels. I agree with your statement:
I have now shot the glock 23, xd, and S&W at the local range today at lunch.
Grip/comfort I like the S&W M&P, with the XD 2nd (glock handle is way too bulky for me, and unnecesarily so...there is plenty of room...
The Tally so far
Thank you all for your inputs...The results thus far:
Springfield XD.......17
Glock 23..............13
S&W M&P............11
CZ 40..................9
CZ 75..................8
Sig P229..............8
Walter P99...........6
The S&W voters had the most to say (great...
Let me start by apologizing for the avalanche that may ensue:
I am in the market for an auto-loader after years of owning only rifles.
I have shot friends 45acp and 9mm, and recently a compact .40S&W. After some research I am ready to go forward with a .40S&W cal auto-loader....The one...
Thank you all for the help....after looking into it the Jewell is a bit too pricey (even though I believe you get what you pay for). I am going to go with the Timney for half the price.
Thanks again
I want to make my new Rem M700 VSF .223rem the paper killer and long range dinner maker it is advertised to be.
At the range and in these forums the clear belief is that a new higher end trigger group and new barrel crown will make it shoot up to expectation.
The current trigger is the...
