Tanfoglio's base guns are good shooters but their Elite series pistols are on a whole other level. I have two Matches in 9mm and 45, a Limited Pro in 45, and a Stock in 9mm. I also have a P Carry in 45.
In that bore size in a revolver 41 Magnum makes more sense. The SRH is available in 41 Magnum from Davidson's. If I wanted a 10mm in that price range I'd go with a Tanfoglio Elite-series pistol.
Power Pistol was originally developed and used in factory 9mm loads. Only later did Alliant start selling it as a canister propellant. You'd be hard pressed to find a powder better suited for 9mm. It will work fine in 45 Auto but I think the lower pressure cartridge does better with a faster...
If 9mm is the only cartridge you are going to load I would say no. The expense of getting all of the reloading equipment will take years to recoup if you are only shooting 9mm. If you already have a reloading setup for other cartridges and all you need is dies and a shell holder then yes. If you...
I use the Xtreme 124gr RN in 9mm. I determined OAL by incrementally seating the bullet and measuring the bullet diameter at the case mouth. When the diameter dropped to .354 I knew the entire shank of the bullet was inside of the case with only the ogive outside of the case, just like with...
With handgun ammo seating depth isn't going to affect accuracy much. The bullet style and your pistol's chamber dimensions will dictate OAL. Seating the bullets straight will have a bigger effect. Your Redding competition seating die will go a long way toward seating them straight. A Lyman M die...
I have a 5.5" Mark III 22/45 and a 3.5" SR22. Both are accurate, reliable with everything I've tried in them, and fun to shoot. I haven't shot the Bersa but have heard the can be finicky with some ammo. The Mark III is discontinued and for now your options in the Mark IV are limited, and more...
For me I'd rather have the 4.2" Redhawk in 41 Mag over the shorter barrel. If you really want to get the most out of the round the 7.5" Super Redhawk (also a Davidson's exclusive) would be the way to go. If you want a snub nose 41 Mag get it. You'll never go wrong with a Redhawk.
I have a Witness P Carry in 45. It uses the same magazines as the full size steel guns. Mec Gar mags with black follower do not fall free from the polymer frame, but the Tanfoglio mags with red follower do. The Mec Gar mags are slightly thicker than the Tanfoglio mags. They can be inserted and...
California weather is nice and I'm glad your 44 was still in great shape but California's gun laws are horrible. I'll take bundling up to go shoot for three months of the year and oiling my unused pistols occasionally under Utah's gun laws over year round good weather under the regime you guys...
Take it back to the FFL you bought the pistol from. Most won't charge you to ship it back though them. If they do find a different FFL to do business with.
That's a good thing. I never want to be out of Universal. The 4227 out of Canada shoots as well as the stuff out of Australia. I'm sure the Universal will be the same.
I wouldn't doubt it. There are a lot of scalpers in SLC that buy up all the components and ammo and then resell them on KSL for double and triple the price. I'll go without before I buy from scalpers. They still don't have 22LR on the shelves at Sportsman's or Walmart regularly even though Get...
That is a rough rule of thumb and does not apply to every powder. Trailboss is one of those powders. Trailboss is very high volume for weight and is a wholly unique powder type. It is designed to fill high volume cases that were originally designed for black powder. It is not at all similar in...
A large rifle primer is taller than a large pistol primer. If the rifle case you are downloading uses a large rifle primer then you cannot substitute a large pistol primer. Small rifle and small pistol primers are the same size in every dimension and could be substituted. Published data for...
If you want to load hotter than that get another powder. Pressure increases are not linear with increases in charge weight. You could easily have a pressure excursion if loaded much over max, especially with a fast powder like Trailboss. The 19,300 CUP of the published 454 Casull load is the...
I like Universal a lot for mid-range 357 and 45 Colt. I've had very good results in 9mm and 45 Auto too. It burns clean and meters great. It has always been made in Australia by ADI and imported and branded by Hodgdon in the US. A few years back there was a fire at the ADI plant and all of the...
