    45 Colt Loads for UBERTI

Uberti .45 Colt I have a Uberti 1875 Frontier 5 1/2 inch barrel and am using MBC 255 gr. LSWC over 8 grains of Unique. I have varied this load from 7.0 to 8.5 and settled at 8.0 as a nice easy shooting compromise. You are on the right track but I would stay below 9 grains, but thats just my...

    reloading .40 s&w

Don't fret over internet hype, if you are reloading 9mm and .357 without problems, .40 S&W will not be any trouble if you exercise the same care and control you use on the other calibers. Stay within published load data (don't hotrod) and you will be fine. I started out reloading .40 S&W for...

accuracy of the Lee turret powder measure disks...

It depends.... ...on which powder you are using. I find Unique will vary as much as 2 tenths while Bullseye seems to be right on the nose each time. Just my limited experience YMMV. Joe

    DOB Colt Detective Special

Thanks guys, 1972, This makes me feel old!! I was still in High School when this Colt left the factory. I put a deposit on it today (the 17th) and will have to wait for the amendment to my permit to pass the Sheriff's office before I can liberate it from the gun shop, so about 10 days and I...

Question on primers from a new guy

So, I'm reloading .45 ACP from range brass and I find that Blazer has small primers while Federal has large, isn't there some industry standard or is this up to each manufacturer? I realize it's up to me to know what I'm reloading here, but I somehow thought that there was some rhime & reason...

    Uberti revolvers

Ohio, I have recently bought a Uberti 1875 Outlaw in .45 Colt, mine is a 5-1/2 barrel and I'm so far having a lot of fun with it. I broke it in on Winchester Silver Tips 225 gr HP, but just a couple of boxes cause they are kinda pricey! Now I'm shooting my own reloads and I think the gun is a...

Advice on which digital micrometer to purchase?

Don't waste your money All you really need for reloading measurement is a good dial caliper. I have worked as a machinist/toolmaker for over 20 years and my suggestion would be either a Starret or Mitutoyo. No caliper whether vernier, dial or electronic is TRULY capable of accuracy better...

    Reloading manuals

It's interesting you say that because thats just what I have going on here. I am planning to reload .45 Colt and bought a box of 255gr Keith SWC and guess what?... no recipe in the Speer manual, infact no 255gr bullets for .45 Colt at all. Now I guess its not reasonable to expect Speer or...

    Reloading manuals

So, I'm very new and just got the Speer Manual 14 and I'm wondering if I need to spend on different ones, like Lyman,Nosler etc. I have read ABC's of reloading end to end, so I think I get the basic ideas and bought a Lee Classic press kit and immediately disabled the turret feature so I can...
