Does a .38 +P J-frame, a .357 SAA replica and a .357 lever carbine count as 2 or 3 guns in the same caliber?

I've got:

Two twelve guages (upland gun and slug gun)
Two .223's (varmint gun and AR type)

Three .22 rimfire rifles (all bolt guns)

Four .45acp pistols. (all 5" 1911 type)

I did, however, goober up the poll by voting for the highest result, not all that apply. Sorry, I'm just waking up for the day.

I don't think .22 should count. If you don't have more than one, why are you even reading a gun forum?! :)
I can't remember how many .22 rifles I have in the gun locker: 5, 6, maybe 7. Then there's the Ruger Mk.II, and the H&R 9-shot revolver.
Considering this poll made me realize the deficiencies in my collection. I've been meaning to get another 7.62x39 (1), another 7.35 Carcano (1) and another 7.62x54R (1).
I also love 16 gauge shotguns (3): single shot, pump, and semi-auto. Looking for a double barrel.
Then there's the lonely M1 Garand. I really need another rifle for .30-06.

Yes, I have two in 9mm. One a S&W 5906 ("Hey, grandpa. Remember when they used to make Smith autos out of metal?" ;) :D ) The other one is a French MAB P-15. (I won't say "presumably surrendered by some French soldier." Oh wait! I just did!)

I have 2 .22lr guns, one a pistol and the other rifle. They are used to for cheap marksmanship practice.

I have 2 .45 ACP 1911s with a third on the way. The 1911 is my preferred pistol platform. I think it prudent to keep extras around.

cowssurf,

See, it's not about money at all, it's about what the wife says...

If you have multiples, you can say things like "I'm going out to shoot my .45" and she'll never be the wiser. ;)

455 Mk II 1
45 ACP 1
44/40 1
38 Spcl 1
32 S&W Long 1
32 RF 1
30/06 2
7.5 Swiss 1
30 Mauser 2
25 ACP 1
22 LRRF 15

Do I notice a trend??:D

5 9mm19s and two (the same gun) in 5.7x28mm, of all things. Used to have multiple .223s and 7.62x39mms but have been cutting back

I've got multiple .45 acp's. One was a family friend's sidearm during WW II.

I've got a rifle and pistol in .45LC and .44-40.

One 12 gauge slug gun and one sporting clays O/U. Same gauge but totally different platform and application.

I can't see having five different 9mm semi-auto pistols. Duplication seems mundane. However, if your shooting involves various applications (hunting versus sporting clays), you'll see that multiple platforms become quite desirable.

I have a .22 revolver to go along with 3 rifles in .22 (semi-auto, bolt, lever) and another one (single shot bolt) coming into the family in a day or so.

I also have four .44 percussion revolvers.

I find what I like then run with it!!

Lets see...

2 m59 sks 7.62 x39mm
1 Saiga 7.62 x 39mm
1 mini-14 .223
1 AR15 rifle .223
1 AR15 pistol .223
1 M44 7.62 x 54mm
1 CD shotty 12 gauge
1 Hi Point 995 9 mm
1 Hi Point C9 9 mm
1 Remy 597 22 lr
1 davy crickett 22 lr
1 Win 1894 30-30
1 S&W 39-2 9 mm
1 Intratec 25
4 AR lower receivers

I have at least 2 guns for every caliber I stockpile, Including 5 .22lrs

I'm looking to purchase an SKS this afternoon, that will be my first 7.62X39, but if I find a good deal on ammo I'll eventually aquire another...

5 - 22's (pistols and rifles
5 - 9mm
2 - 357mag
4 - 45colt (pistols and rifles)
2 - 45acp
3 - 12ga.

Actually I have three 45 ACPs and 4 9mms! Plus three 22LR pistols.

Used to have four 45 ACPs but I sold one to a forum member.

Two of my 45's are 1911s that are pretty much "Safe Queens," although one is my wife's home defense gun for when I'm out. That's after the bad guys get past the two 120 pound Newfoundland dogs. The other 45 is a Sig P245 that I carry on occasion.

My 9mm's are thusly: A Browning Hi-Power that I'm saving for my nephew should he ever move out of the great communist state of MA and live in the "free zone." lol No offense intended. A Beretta M92FS that I use for IDPA competition. A Sig P226 "Blackwater Edition" that I carry in a Crossbreed super tuck deluxe and hope to use at an actual Blackwater training course. Finally, my newest acquisition is a H&K P30 that I'll probably use as my primary carry piece now due to it's customizable grips (I have smallish hands) and lighter weight. For me H&K and Sig rock no matter what the caliber.

I have a Walther P22 and a Ruger Single Six that I use for my NRA Training classes (I'm an instructor) and I have a NAA mini 22 for a BUG.

Oops, forgot the 2 12 ga shotties: One a side by side "Coach Gun" with exposed hammers and an early model Benelli M121 semi auto that's been heavily customized for combat.

Also a pair of 22 Rifles.

I've got 3 different IPSC guns in .38 Super.

2 in .357 magnum + 1 in .38 sp = 3 .38 special
S&W model 65-1 4" .357
Colt Lawman MKIII snubby .357
S&W model 36 snubby .38 sp

2 in .45 ACP
Para PXT SSP 1911 5"
Glock G30

I guess the rest are just 1 gun, 1 caliber

I have a collection of black powder revolvers. Calibers are .31, .36, .44, and I have more than one in each because there are numerous models and manufacturers of these types of guns.
I have also two .22 rifles (a lever action and semiauto) as I inherited one of them, plus a semiauto .22 pistol.
I have a lever action in .44-40 and another in .44 Magnum. These are of course, different rounds entirely, even though they're both ".44" caliber.

First off, lay off on the single .22 owner hate. Great way to welcome beginners. I have one that works, and another I'm hopefully going to restore. But I definitely don't have the money to buy another plinker and I've only been collecting for about 3-4 years. So I'll keep buying more useful calibers and I won't be joining the brady bunch, if thats alright.

If you count CALIBER as different from Cartridge, I have 2 7.62 rifles, but one is X39, the other is X54R. If we go further and call them .30 cal, I have one more.

For the sake of time I will just list a few

6 9mm's
4 40's
2 357 sigs
4 45's
2 10mm's
13+ 22's
2 22 mags
2 357 mags
3 44 mags
10 7.62x39
4 223
3 30 carbine

and much more
