Some calibers are well diversified and deserving of more than one delivery system. I have several different .22's (pistols and rifles). I think a shotgun's performance can vary greatly between one with an 18" barrel with no choke, and a 26" barrel with full choke. 9mm works great in my Glock 26 yet is equally capable in a sub-machine gun or compact semi-auto carbine. Some rounds just seem to have more capabilities than a single weapon platform can perform on its own.

9 mm = S&W 915, Walther P1

357 / 38 special, ruger vaquero revolver, marlin 1894C rifle

7.62 x 39 saiga , SKS

12 guage saiga S12, soon a SxS coach and/or 1887

This has probably got to be the most one-sided poll I have ever seen on The High Road.

Which brings me to the question, why even pose the question? I know the younger members are still building their accumulations not that mine has stopped growing.

Let's see

.22 LR -- 4 rifles, 1 handgun
.30 Carbine -- 1 rifle
.300 WSM -- 1 rifle
.30-06 -- 5 rifles
.30-40 Gov't -- 1 rifle
.45 Colt -- 1 rifle, 3 handguns
.45-70 -- 2 rifles
.50 BMG -- 1 rifle
5.56x45mm -- 2 rifles
6.5x55 mm -- 2 rifles
7.5x54mm - 1 rifle
7.5x55mm -- 2 rifles
7.62x39mm -- 2 rifles
7.62x51mm -- 8 rifles
7.62x54R -- 4 rifles
7.7 Jap -- 1 rifle
7.92x57mm -- 3 rifles
8x50R -- 1 rifle
9x19mm -- 1 rifle, 5 handguns
.357 Mag/.38 Special -- 1 handgun
.40 S&W -- 2 handguns
.45 ACP -- 9 handguns
10 mm -- 1 handgun
7.62 Nagant -- 1 handgun
7.62x25mm - 1 handgun
9x18mm -- 2 handguns
12 ga -- 9 shotguns
20 ga -- 2 shotguns

Yeah, there are some multiples in there

"Do you own more than one gun in the same caliber?"

Multiple examples from .22 to 12 ga.

Heck, I even have the same model in different barrel lengths.

In .38 S&W:
Webley MK III
Iver Johnson 1900
Iver Johnson Hammerless
H&R revolver "The American"
S&W 2nd Model DA

In .32 S&W Long:
H&R hammerless
Iver Johnson 55A Cadet

I also have two CZ 52s and 2 SKSs

Plus, of course, a pile of various .22LRs

I forgot to mention a couple in .32 S&W short

Your question implies that all guns in the same caliber are equal, which is obviously not the case.

If you collect coins, do you have more than one coin of the same denomination?

2 12 ga
2 .300 win mag
2 7.62 x 39
2 .22 1 bolt, 1 semi auto

too mjuc fun to be limited to one of each:)

a few 12 gauges, a few .22's, 2 .357's, 3 .45's and 2 .45-70's.

oh yeah, and 2 .50 cal muzzleloaders, one in-line and one custom tradiational

I have two .357's. one is a smaller carry gun, and one is a service sized gun that I use for HD.

.38/.357:
- 2.25" Ruger SP101 for carrying
- 4" S&W 586 for general purpose
- Marlin 1894c because it is so much fun to shoot!

That's it unless I add in my son's guns. Then his Ruger 10/22 and Savage .22/.410 OU along with my Firestorm .22 pistol make a triple on .22lr, and his 870 Express and my 870 Wingmaster make a double on 12 gauge.

He says he wants to buy the SP101 from me when he moves out. I told him he'll have to get his own because this one stays with dad.

9x19 - 2
7.62x25 - 2
.22LR - 3
7.62x54R - 4
7.62x39 - 2

I like to shoot, and don't like to send a ton of money doing it.

I love my G17, but carry is impossible here in FL. Needed something smaller, and being able to put a 17 round mag or a 33 rounder is a nice option. Just picked up the G26 today.

Two 7.62X39s-Romanian SAR1 and Ruger Mini 30

Two .223s-Olympic Arms AR-15 and Bushmaster Varminter with three more unbuilt AR lowers awaiting a caliber.

Thats all I can think of right now. I have

As for why? Well how different are each of these guns, even in the same caliber. The 1911 and the 220? The Encore and the HK91? The 03 Springfield and the 7400? Each is like night and day.

Three .22 rifles. One was my first rifle. One was purchased to teach my children and now grandchildren to shoot. One was inherited from my late father-in-law.

Two .38s. One CCW. One Cowboy gun.

Four .45s. Three cowboy revolvers. One cowboy carbine.

Two 12 gauges. One combat pump. One cowboy double.

I'm still having difficulty understanding the "why?"
