If you could only have one handgun, what would it be?

Only one? Tough call because I change guns depending on my moods. If I had to choose, at this moment in time & space & being in the current mood I'm in, I'd go HK P7M8

*Read my mind, mood.. hmmm, all I can say is, if one, my Sig 45 I pick up tomorrow..

being a revolver man...my platform is already certain; the only matched calibers I own is .38 spl/.357 magnum...not alot to pick from there...but which one??? ;)

there's the always trusted and faithful S&W 642 in .38 spl +p...

there's the big boomer...Ruger GP-100 w/ 6" barrel...

there's the do almost anything little brother...Ruger SP-101 w/ 3" barrel...

and there's the impulsive bought one I didn't really need...Ruger Security Six w/ 4" barrel...

too darned hard to pick one...

man thats hard glock or beretta? the beretta is just too smooth but the glock is a work horse that never stops, but i guess ill take the glock due to the caliber conversions  cheap ammo is good ammo

I'd always thought a S&W 686 or similar .357 would be great as my only pistol if I had to choose just one....but lately I lean more towards my G19. Very easy to conceal, holds 15+1 rounds....and I just don't make it to the woods much so I don't really need a hunting gun or big-bore gun. For my lifestyle, a Glock is a good "if you could have only one gun" gun. Of course, I carry a S&W j-frame more than anything else, so maybe I should keep just that one...

no choice. glock 27. Love the recoil of the ruger six. Love the hurt from the Smith .44. I trust nothing more than the 10 holes I can put on black at 100 YARDS from the glock 27. Don't have one? Try it. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't shot one.

.

One of my P7M8s. I like my carry 1911 more, but the P7s are the only ones I can carry in all 4 seasons---better a 9mm 12 months a year, than a .45 for 7-8 months.

I like Bestseller's choice. Ruger .357 4" would be a great all-around choice for a handgun. It's currently manufactured, well made, and in a good all-around caliber.
I wish Ruger made a moonclipped revolver in .45 ACP.

If I knew the gun wasn't ever going to break, a Webley... Mark V or VI. The round-butt Mark Vs are a handy size - but the big Mark VIs take the laurels as the meanest-looking British revolver ever made.

IMHO, a .357 Magnum revolver with a 4" barrel is the most versatile handgun you can have. Small enough to carry, big enough for hunting or use as a service sidearm. .38s are fun to shoot, but .357s are powerful enough for game up to deer at short range with proper shot placement.

My choice would be a stainless steel Ruger Security Six. The *Six guns are easily field stripped, rugged, and have smooth actions once they're broken in. They aren't as slick as a Smith K-Frame, but are a bit more rugged. The *Sixes are lighter than the GP-100, so they're easier to carry. I'd take the Security Six vs. the Service Six (which is what I have now) because I'd like adjustable sights.

The absolutely perfect "only one" gun though would be a Security Six with the grip from a GP-100. That would be the cat's a$$.

I really need to get one.

I have to run with the herd on this one, 4" S&W 686+. It is versatile, reliable, good looking, very accurate, flames shoot out of it and ultimately supercool.

Nooooo....brain will explode.....can't choose.......... :what:

That is a tough question. I'm torn between my Kimber Ultra Carry II and my Browning Hi-Power. Both are so accurate, and so sweet to shoot. However, that new-to-us m66-3 we got in January is as accurate in SA, and has the advantage of being something that I could use as a woods gun too (can't quite see hunting Bambi with a BHP...)

The answer might also hinge on "am I still stuck concealed carrying or can I open carry the one I choose?" Because for CC, the Kimber wins, hands down.

Springmom, whose head hurts from even thinking of parting with all but one...
