self-defense ammo for .500 S&W

I know anything in .500 is enough for self-defense however most of the rounds I have been looking at as someone said will "pass right through someone and still have most of it's energy left".

I need a round that will deliver most or all of it's energy into the human target and not have an excessive amount of overpenetration.

I don't really think it would matter what ammo you use, it would be tough to whip that big ol wheelgun out in a hurry, but if you can get 1 accurate shot off that should be all you need. The general rule is the same as elephant hunting with 600 Nitro, 1. a 160lb englishman fires, 2. the englishman falls down 3. the elephant falls down 4. the one that gets up is the winner.

But if you are Paul Bunyon big enough to conceal a 500mag, I don't think you are going to have to worry about too many BG's anyway, unless Hercules is trying to score some quick cash to pay off his bookie, or Zeus has become a crackhead.

Why are you people bothering to answer this guy? It's obvious he's a Troll and making fun of all gun owners. C'mon, he says he wants to carry a .500 for SD and then says he's worried about over penetration. Please stop answering his threads and maybe he will stop making them!!

I take this thread to be a discussion on loads available for the .500, and little more. I don't know or care if the OP is serious or trolling or what, it's a useful discussion when we make it one.

I agree PJ , weather he's trolling or just in dire need of a big brother, this threads jot me thinkin' how bout a 325-350 grn soft lead SWCHP at 1000-1100 fps. that should dang near have shotgun slug results. and while an X-frame is not a pocket gun its far more concealible than an 870

At one time I was conceal carrying my Ruger .454 with some 400gr. hardcasts but I felt abit underarmed so I now carry my .460 S&W or .500 S&W.

From antoher thread...

Hmm....

Interesting!

Maybe ther should be a background check and 10 waiting period for computer buyers.

BTW, you'd have to dress like a retard to conceal a 500...so maybe he's for real.

Bwahahahahaha! Nice try Grow up!

Lay of the fast food and pizzas. When you weigh less that 700 lbs dressed the question you made will be obviously STUPID.
