Great guns guys. I've only been into Milsurps for a short time but here is my small collection so far.

And my best find so far. A M-28 Finn that a local gun shop owner obviously thought was a basic run of the mill Mosin Nagant. Picked it up for 90 bucks. LOL! Only about 32,000 of these guns were ever made and only about half of that run seems to have survived the 3 wars they fought in.

Storm been looking at those Steyr carbines lately, don't have a SKS either yet.I kick myself for not getting one when they were under $200.

My Steyr 95 arrives today at my FFL. I should have it later today. I originally was going to acquire a Budapest M95 but I went to a Plan B and grabbed a Steyr Austrian. Either way that you go is good as these guns usually run $100 or less. Of course, the issue is the ammo and these days you are looking at a buck a pop or more. That's okay as I might only take 20 shots in an afternoon, and they will be reloaded.

As to an SKS, I just paid $300 each for a 1959 Norinco and a 1958 Romanian, and having paid $88 for my first one back in the Eighties, bought cosmoline soaked out of a crate, you can imagine how I feel :banghead: Unlike many milsurps, the SKS is a real shooter made for high volume plinking. Guns like my Swedish Mauser are a different breed. It's like the difference between sipping and chugging.

Time to go check UPS tracking and see where that Steyr is:D North Carolina to Georgia is a nice short trip.

Note: just checked UPS tracking: "out for delivery". I love those three words.

Here are two from the family collection. Type 38 carbine and 1936 M28-30.

Storm the Swede is a awesome rifle, love mine. With those if I come across a nice one I won't hesitate to get it just because.I have a Orbendorf 1900 made also that isn't shown. They all shoot spot on at 100yds also with the original front sight.

Lionking, I have to admit that I hesitated for a good month after I saw the Swede on the rack at the shop. I was really after K98 and Enfields at the time and hadn't done my homework. Once I read a bit about the Swede I rushed over and put it on layaway. At $269 I had little to lose and a lot to gain.

BTW, the Steyr M95 is a sweet little (and I mean little) rifle. It cleaned up beautifully and right now the tung oil is drying. A neat feature is that to remove the bolt youpush the trigger forward. I had never seen that before. I'm going to pick up a second one, a Budapest.

I think iamkris likes guns....ya think?

Question for the Arisaka Type 99.Just got one and haven't shot it yet.I don't have the adjustable "aircraft" sight on mine, what is usual for point of impact with the aperature ring battle sight?

Plan on bore sighting it to see before I do shoot it but hven't done that yet either. If it hits bulls area at 100yds I won't fuss about finding the slider sight but if it shoots low I will.

Holy crap dude! Not much different than happening upon an individual or dealer with something along the lines of a classic S&W N Frame selling for $150, thinking it was just an obsolete, old man wheel gun.

I've only got one Milsurp so far, a Finnish M39 (1945 Sako on an 1898 Tula Receiver). Despite shooting a very crusty batch of surplus ammo of questionable quality, the gun still managed a bit over a 3" group at 50 yards shooting from a sandbag. Given higher quality factory ammo or handloads, I figure the same 3" group at twice the distance would be doable, if I do my part.

iamkris: Your collection is one of the High Sacred Altars of rifles:), already in the Promised Land.

Ironically, if you are in a bit of purgatory and need help, I will help you shoot your way out if you have an extra helmet. But you can carry the ammo cans.

Ohio Gun Guy: Nice idea, will ambush my wife and force her to look at these photos. She will realize that my disease has not spread beyond the early/intermediate stage. Mini 30, N. SKS, 2 MN 44s, LE Jungle Carbine (and old Savage .22), but no camera/computer skills.

Nice Enfield also Savage?
No, made at Birmingham Small Arms Factory in Shirley, England.

iamkris if I had that collection it would take plastic surgery to get the s##t eating grin off my face. LOL! Nice, very nice.

Hey, if he's gonna sell something for a living then by God learn something about it. LOL! They are always saying, "let the buyer beware". Well, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

A bit...more than I need, less than I want.

I've only shot Hornady 7.7 Jap through this one. I haven't tried to find it's zero yet, but I'd guess it is in the 250-300 yeard range given that it prints about 4 inches high at 100.

I do have the aint-aircraft sight but mine didn't have the "arms" on it. I got the arms from Numrich Arms but I still need the screws to hold them in...can't find them anywhere.

I think they are good rifles...equal to an Enfield or Mauser. Really underrated.

Thanks...I've been at this a while. A C&R license helps. Fact is though, I'm an "accumulator" rather than a collector...not much rhyme or reason to what I have other than I see something I like and I buy it.

Didn't post my 1911s, other auto pistols or shotguns since they didn't fit the "milsurp" definition here.

Oh, what the heck...might as well so I have a reference to use for other posts...

Gelgoog, interesting bolt on the Venezuelan, usually the 24/30 has a straight bolt.Nice Argentine, while the Swedish mauser gets alot of affection, the 1909 and 1908 Mausers are excellent and accurate Mausers as well.

What caliber is the Moroccan?

yes the 24/30 was bent, but other then that its in immaculate conditions. The moroccan is .308 and is #48( very painful to fire btw).

I have several other rare models I have gotten since taking those pics, but couldn't find them. You know how it is, it gets the point when you have so many weapons that taking group pics is a real pain.
