Hey girl....Richard...RICHARD! Who's Richard :banghead: Hey ya got the "R" part right!

LOL okay I'll make a Prado thing. The night match sounds like alot of fun but I'm going to be in Santa Barbara that weekend.

Shot the Fun Shoot down at Iron Sights tonight. Had a good time.

I talked to a couple shooters that were discussing shooting at Prado and they said it was alot of fun as well.

Later...R...A....L...P...H :p
edit: What is the Prado website for more info?

Ralph - THAT's it - sorry

I met you and BlackMajik (Richard) the same week and at least got the 'R' right

I'll look for you at Prado - and West End is OPEN so Action Pistol will be running this Saturday; then there's LESA Action Pistol at Raahauge's on Sunday (or maybe Tactical Rifle at West End - I haven't tried that yet and keep meaning to...)

So many shooting opportunities, so little time.

:D

tcd....... No problemo Sally just hav'n some fun w/ ya. :D

Is Prado a membership opportunity type of range? I logged onto the site but didn't notice any membership stuff.

Next Sat should be a go 11/15 I'm out of town until Friday night but I might just meet you out there then.

I plan on doing the 4 day Defensive Pistol course at Front Sight and read your post regrding the training. I might just squeeze this in mid-December if they have room in the course. First I need to move a business appointment to make room for it.

Ralph - Prado is unusual in that it's a publicly owned range - the City of Chino owns it though I believe the operation is a franchise. So, no memberships, all facilities are open to anyone.

One oddity this causes re: IDPA is that the "official" status of the matches is uncertain - as a public range, match organizers cannot require organizational membership to participate, so you don't have to be an IDPA member to shoot the match - though you do get a $2 discount if you are.

As far as I know, it's not an issue, but I think it does mean that they can't hold Official (regionals, championships, etc.) matches there.

PS - BTW, Ralph, any idea what's up with the scores from the Iron Sights matches? I keep checking the OSA-TNT web site but nothing from Sept (or Oct) has been posted yet.

Tara I asked bill about this last night and he said the scores were still sitting at his computer. Part of the delay is their website subscription ran out and they are in the process of converting to a new URL. It will be called www/oceansidepistolleague.com although it won't be active for another week or so. The other reason is Bill just hasn't gotten around to it, LOL.

The October scores aren't up either. Good group of shooters but motivation can be problematic.

I'll definately get out there soon. Action Pistol this Saturday, that's the Cowboy stuff or is it something else, like plate shooting?

"Action Pistol" is a lot like USPSA, but with both steel plates and paper targets, and usually a shotgun and/or a combo pistol-shotgun (2 Gun) stage. No prizes except bragging rights, lots of fun, and good practice.

It's also reasonanbly priced (at West End, anyway) - $15 for non WEGC members, $10 for members.

Bring about 250 rounds of pistol ammo, 5 slugs and a box of 7 1/2 for the shottie (and someone (me) will loan you one if you need it) and enjoy! You may not use all that, but you could   :D

What time is this gig get underway? It's still a long shot but maybe I can make it tomorrow.

Ralph - Starts at 9AM but there's walk throughs for the stages so shooting usually starts about 9:30; and if you get there a little late you can usually jump in a catch up.

I usually leave Tustin about 8:15 and am in plenty of time (using the 261/241 Toll Road-91-15.) Figure 35 - 40 minutes from Orange via 55-91-15 barring accidents in the canyon.

I'LL PLAY (I DID!)

Green Mountain Practical Shooters (www.gmps.ws) held its November match; a rainy cold day.
Perfect.
Shot my 1911 (Caspian, of course) in LTD 8 and won my class (C).

Went out and practiced my rifle shooting. Unfortunatly it was at a local square boring old hunter's ed range. So just sat at the bench and shot little groups. I did shoot a 6 inch, 200 yard group with my Vepr K. I know that ain't going to win any High Power awards or anything, but not bad for a 7.62x39 with iron sights. :)

Shooting groups from a bench is BORING. :) To think that for most shooters, that is all they do. They don't understand the fun of having a timer beep in your ear and having to go to mach speed.

So I went and shot my pistol. The range has a no rapid fire rule. Which they define as more than 1 shot a second. 1 shot a second! :D Rapid my butt. Also no drawing from the holster. I guess they have to play towards the lowest common denominator.

So I loaded up all of my magazines with 1 round each, and practiced slide lock reloads! :D That kept each shot more than 1 second apart.

If shooting a 3gun match is the shooting equivelent to a really nice meal in a fancy restaurant, then shooting at a regular range is like grabbing a bargin burger from McDonalds.

Quit shooting IPSC/IDPA matches a year or so ago. Too expensive, too far to drive. However, if pin shooting makes a comeback in my area I'm there.

Last weekend went out to the boonies with my cousin to pop off a few rounds. Got to shoot:

M1 Garand
Auto-Ordinance 1911A1
Colt LW Commander
Ruger Blackhawk 357 mag
S&W 686
Mossberg 500 12ga
Wards Western Field .22 bolt action
Rossi M62 copy
.270 M700 ADL

Never shot a Garand before. I think I need one. Not sure what I need it for, but I think I need one.

Shot an IDPA match with a shotgun side match. IDPA match went well, placed 3rd in SSP shooting a H&K USP 40. The SUV of handguns to say the least. The shotgun side match went better. My buddy was bragging about how great his Bennilli shotgun was and how fast it shoots. Well lets just say that my ol' Rem. 870 riot gun did us pump shotgunners proud. Beat my buddy and another guy that were both shooting Bennilli super shotguns. The crowd was cheering me on. When they asked me what kind of work I had done to my shotgun I told them it was in the same condition as when I bought it at a pawn shop........ for $250.00.:D My buddy eariler called my shotgun a old relic :neener: Goes to show you what a Rem 870 can do in the right hands.

I shot a CZ-75 SA with the Austin Lone Star Practical Pistol Club. It is IPSC style once a month. I missed 3rd place (out of 5 or 6 shooters) in the Limited 10 by less than a point. Well, I had to double shoot at a couple of steel and poppers on some stages...so that's that. Generally, I am slower but accurate. Almost always get compliments on 'nice groups'. Money and time make practice perfect. The best part, it was fun.
