Old Dog, where I find humor in this has to do with the idea of a monkey's obedience and ability to follow through in a rather high-stress situation. Working with the handicapped as mentioned in the opener is a different situation, seems to me. Much, much less "aura" of excitement.
I was around folks' pet monkeys, back when I lived in the Philippines. I recall how out-of-control they could get if the people around them weren't quite calm. Ergo, I'm a sceptic.
