I share the distaste for the XDS .45. Just a nasty, unpleasant little thing. I'd rather shoot my .357 LCR than that.

For me one is the Walther PPKs in 380 with factory ammo. That gun just beats the web of my hand. Even with my low-medium powered reloads, it's not a fun gun at the range. The LCP feels better for me, as do many of the other 380s I've shot. In contrast, the PPKs in 32 ACP are a pleasure and I could shoot them all session.

The other was the Desert Eagle in 50 AE. That thing is a beast. I've fired a couple of them. The last time, I didn't have a quite solid enough grip and it tore my hand up a bit. I have small hands, and I don't like to get beat up by the guns I'm shooting. I can handle an Eagle in 44 and in 357. But that 50 is too much to be fun. Same for 44 Mag revolvers. I can shoot a cylinder's worth, but that's about it. And, likewise, I have no interest in the big boomers like S&W 500, etc.

Another one was one of those SCCY compact 9MMs. A terrible trigger and a pounding in the web of the hand as well.

I'll mention, I was shooting my buddy's XDS 45 and it was a handful, but it wasn't bad for me. Maybe it's my smaller hands?

I have been carrying an XDs in 45 during warmer months for about 5.5 years now. I thoroughly enjoy that little monster and typically put 100-150 rounds through it at a time.

I found a S&W 642 unpleasant with +p ammo as the factory grip is way too small for my hands, so it beat me up. I was going to put a bigger grip on it, but that sort of defeats the point of a small carry gun.

The worst though I've shot was my former Bond Arms snake Slayer with 00 buck 410 shells. It just sucked.

When the XDM 10mm comes out, I plan to give them a serious look. I'd like a 3.8 inch version. However, if they found a way to put it in an XDs, I'd really like to give it a try.

My 3" Kimber K6S only weights 25.1 oz empty, and it isn't a problem with full house .357 loads. Might be a problem with the ergonomics of the COP.
Yeah, derringers are not exactly known for their soft shooting characteristics. I was close to buying a K6S, still might one day. I was looking at those and rhinos as another .357 option when I get the revolver bug that I seem to get every other year or so

.......ummmmmm, typo; I hope......
Nope
Sounds like an interesting story...
Not really
Might want to reword that one...
Why
Are you sure you want to post that on the interwebs? There is no statute of limitations for that.
Statute of limitations on shooting a gun.
No kidding, we’re all over here thinking this man is committing murder lol
Why would you think that, if you said you shot a detective I would believe you meant a Colt handgun.

So not one of you knew what a cop is yet you think I did something wrong even "committing murder", some people's kids.

My Mosin Nagant M44, as it came.
Short length of pull, steel butt plate with 90-degree edges and protruding mount screw.
I'm 135 pounds. No shoulder padding.
Tossed a an el-cheapo rubber pad on it, still bruises but it's fun while it does.

Browning hi-power. Hold it the way i want it bites me, lower my grip and it squirms around on me.....love playing with the things tho.

I had a customer once bring in a custom bolt action to have a scope mounted. It was chambered for 458 Lott. He gave me a box of cartridges to sight it in and said the fewer I used the better as they were $8.00 each. I bore sighted it in my shop and took it to the range. Let me tell you shooting from the bench was brutal. Thank god the first two rounds were on target, because $16.00 worth was all I wanted to spend.
Coincidentally he shot a beautiful Kodiak Grizzly with it. About 1100 lbs with claws as long and big around as my middle finger.

I guarantee that at least 2/3 of us knew exactly what was intended by that and we were being fecesious.

In the mid-90's I owned an Intratec CAT-45 .45 ACP. Not only was the trigger pull about 15 pounds (I'm not exaggerating either) but the recoil of the thing messed up the web of your hand with every shot.

Traded that and a beat up S&W 19 with no finish for a CZ-75.

Had a 2 shot 6inch Alaska survival 45/70 over 410.I wish I still had it for that guy who claims he doesn’t fill recoil.

S&W Bodyguard in .380 . Snappy as heck , flat uncomfortable little grips , slide bite , couldn't hit the side of a barn.

Honorable mention : Ruger LCR in .38 sp. Each discharge felt like someone swatted the muzzle back into the hand with a baseball bat.

Little bitty guns should be made of steel.

Of all the guns I have to shoot the one I hate the most is the Jennings Nine. That thing just hurts the web of my hand. The bad thing about it is, I have to shoot four to five of them a year.

I’ve wondered this before, but how often in your job do you get really nice guns through your hands?

I’ve seen the guns that come off the streets locally and they’re not high quality, high grade specimens...that’s gotta be a rarity.

You would be surprised. The two brands I get the most are Smith & Wesson and Glocks. Next would be Springfield XD’s and Taurus. In long guns, I used to get AK’s but in the last year I’ve gotten more AR’s.
The bad guys are well armed..
We had another officer shot on the 11th. As he pulled up to the call, the suspect started shootings through hid windshield. The suspect gun was a Taurus PT111 G2 with an extended magazine. The Officer was hit three times and was still able to draw his Glock and return fire.

Gunny
I’m sorry to hear about your coworker.
Thoughts and prayers for him, his family, you and all of the law enforcement community there.

Is he doing ok? I hope he’s recovering ok.

Ouch! That hurt. General Gun Discussions.

A friend of my son had .500 S&W revolver and invited me to fire it. I shot at a white rock on the 65yd bank that formed the end of that part of the open air range and hit it three times to raise white dust. I handed it back, knowing that after that last shot, my nerves were tried to the limit, and the fourth shot would have been wide.

For the record, my fave pistol is my .22 LR Ruger Mark II 6" tapered barrel. That is fun to plink with. And enuf gun for what I might meet woodswalking.
.500 S&W. Ouch! That did hurt. I'd bet if faced with a grizzly bear, I would not notice the recoil. But at the range it was a test of nerve and not fun at all.

We were shooting a snub-nosed .500 in a small (8-bay) indoor range which was packed that day. Even standing a few paces behind and to the side, you could feel the blast wave on your face and the shock to your whole CNS! Shell cases on the floor were being pushed downrange with every shot.....
Once we had blown through about 40 rounds, we had inadvertently cleared out the place.....:what::confused:
