Stopped by my LGS today and they had people standing in line, had six sales people working all in a roughly 1,200 square foot retail area. The owner must have called in extra people because usually there are only about 4 people working. I was there about 40 minutes and they sold 3 AR's and 5 pistols. The owner told me that they had been busy most of the day. One of the customers asked why it was taking so long for the background check (Tennessee uses a state system for checks) and was told there were a lot of guns being sold in the state which was bogging down the system. Needless to say the owner was quite happy but his shop does quite a bit of business anyway, just not like today.
He has a good staff, friendly and don't talk down to you. You are greeted when you enter the door by the cashier and then asked if you need help by the available staff. I have complimented the owner on his people and he said he won't keep a person if they don't treat the customer with the upmost respect. He has a complete understanding of customer service.

I had 3 AR's left over after the election and finally got rid of the last one about a month ago. Now here we go again. I am not ordering any more unless it is a special order. I still have about 1500 rounds of 5.56 and 223 as well as over 1000 rounds of 7.62X39. Maybe I can finally get rid of it.

Why are you folks in a panic already? NOTHING is happening and won't (if at all) for a while.

Went into my new Gander Outdoors today and found nice selections of guns, ammo, reloading stuff, no crowds

DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS OR THE PANIC-MINDED. We do NOT need that crap to start because of some snowflake BS

Business was hoppin' at a local store today as well. It seemed to me that it was mostly guys getting around to all the post hunting season-the-weather-is-nice-enough-to-take-care-of-the-things-I-was-going-to-do-last-summer stuff though. I really hope it stays that way. I like to see good business like that.

A few are panic buying, probably because of all the publicity Dick's and a couple of other stores have gotten for their stand against AR's. In reality, I have walked into a Dick's just once, several years ago, looking for that elusive .22LR brick, but not finding it, I never returned. I have talked with a few friends and they never go there either. The stand against ARs is really pretty silly (translate: political) and I don't think they ever sold very many rifles, or firearms of any type. Panicking on that basis is really dumb.

I don't understand panic buying. If you didn't need one when they weren't being lobbied against, why would you need one if they get banned? I do like people buying guns though.

Our first winter and first snow in Tennessee blew my mind. People cleaned the bread shelves and bought milk by the gallons in case they got snowed in. We don't get enough snow in the winter to even mention and some winters none at all.

I told my son the LGS had DPMS Oracles on sale for $399 the day before the school shooting, he went in the day after, (got paid that morning) the line formed right behind us, and they were sold out later that day. He's glad I told him about the sale. I'd have bought one too, but I'd just traded with his brother for his Sportical.

I view it more as people who planned on possibly buying in the future and accelerated their timeline or finally pulled the trigger. People don’t like to be told they can’t have something so they buy as a result. It is just like how grocery stores will limit quantities. They found if quantities are limited the general public will buy the max quantity. If there is no max, they only buy what they want or need right then.

No apparent panic on ammo. Not now.
.19/rd. for 7.62x39 on Gunbot.

.20/rd. for .223 on Gunbot, two different distributors.

Any actual panic probably would have prompted more than one sincere e-mail about my beautiful M59 SKS on Armslist TN.
It sold today out the back of my car for $500, but only because M59s are difficult to find: typical SKS muzzle with No gr. launcher. The M59 is Not a 59/66.

I stopped in at 3 gun shops while running around today.

One went out of business.
I was the only customer in the second one.
There was an AR15 sale in progress in #3.

Doesn't look like a panic around here.

I have all I need as I always have even the last time there was the panic. I guess I just don't panic.

I see what is the start of a potential panic. Look at Bud's, Palmetto, SG Ammo websites and they all list delays in fulfilling orders due to a demand surge. That tells me that the low price guys are getting hit. I ordered some Bullseye and a mold from Graf's last night to take advantage of the combined hazmat discount and Alliant powder rebate and we will see how long it takes to get it. If this all dies down in the next few weeks, everyone will probably go back to sleep. If not, well, yeah, we are probably in another nasty panic. No doubt all of us saw the wisdom of accumulating a healthy stockpile during the slack times, but not everyone will have done so due to budget constraints, just getting into the hobby, or a zillion other reasons.

Here we go again with the panic. You'd think that people would have learned by now.

...add to that, this is the time of the year when most folks are getting their tax refunds back. Doesn't hurt when folks have a big check burning a hole in their pocket.

Right now IS the good old days. Stock up now while ammo is plentiful and cheap.
I got into shooting and hunting right before the last panic and I’m not getting caught short this time.
Panic? No. Prudence? Yes.

I did the same timing wise. Stocked up and learned to cast, so I am good for whenever the next shortage comes.

Classic Firearms and Primary Arms also are saying to expect delays due to high volume.

The M&P 2.0 5” that I’ve been wanting also is now out of stock at Georgia Gun. They had a bunch a few weeks ago. And I’ve watch the stock on the 4.25” (they list how many in stock) go down rapidly.

So people are taking advantage of the good prices.

I just hope that we don’t see a full blown panic. But only time will tell.

I just got back from a gun show here in Decatur Alabama. Very crowded, no parking, a good supply of ARs being sold.
Not good for the claustrophobic among us.

Definitely that and the warmer weather doesn't hurt either. :)
Ha! That made me laugh chicharrones.:)
Believe it or not, we were planning on going to a gunshow in Pocatello (about 30 miles) this morning. However, we woke up to over a foot of snow and it's still coming down. The road out in front of our place hasn't even been plowed yet. And the thing is, my wife texted our daughter, who actually lives in Pocatello, and our daughter said they have less than 3" there.
Darn it! I was really looking forward to that gunshow. I wanted to see if there was a bunch of panic buying of ARs going on, and I figured the local news media would be there interviewing people. Besides, I was planning on selling a couple of old .22 rifles that the grandkids (who are all grown and gone now) used to use when they visited.
Oh well! There's another gunshow in Burley (about 80 miles) next month. Right now, I've got to go shovel snow.:D

Some in the gun business may be hoping for a panic, dunno.
I just ordered 2k of 124 gr. JHP on Monday of this week. They got to my house on Thursday. The web site said to expect 6-8 business days before shipment.

I'll go along with the tax refund thing, and pricing is at a low for the most part.
Right now if someone raises their price, there are 20 others that will still sell at a lower price.
