At my LGS today and were they busy!

Right now if someone raises their price, there are 20 others that will still sell at a lower price.

I just got back from a gun show, and it was about half and half. I picked up an Anderson lower for $50, not too bad, but there were basic m4geries priced at $1000, too. Not selling, either. Saw a lot of other non AR guns way overpriced, too.

I was at my local range/store and I was the only one buying. In my defense I put the pistol on layaway before anything stired up down South. Above average number of people shooting ARs on the the range though.

I hope it's a bust for them that raised their prices. Good for them that remained steady.

I would like to go to the LGS/Range today but know store will be packed, need to stay home anyway and pay bills . My Boss just got his Ruger 556 out of layaway, said price on same model rifle went up $100+

I had 3 AR's left over after the election and finally got rid of the last one about a month ago. Now here we go again. I am not ordering any more unless it is a special order. I still have about 1500 rounds of 5.56 and 223 as well as over 1000 rounds of 7.62X39. Maybe I can finally get rid of it.

Did you buy those guns and ammo to sell or just bought them and wanted to now get rid of them?

I went by Academy Sports today and they had sold out of every AR15 PMAG they had. There were a few AR10 mags left. So, then curious, I dropped by my local gun enabler (a pawn shop which also sells new firearms and reloading supplies and equipment. Last week he had around a dozen used AR 15's and a few AR10's...there were two left, both AR10's. What's more amazing to me is that a bunch of other rifles had also sold; 22LR's, bolt action center fires...rifles that had been sitting there for months not moving. For folks who are thinking there's not a run on things, you're wrong, at least in Kansas.

I would think that everyone who wanted one would have one by now. There is/was a glut of them at all gun stores. I will need to check my local big gun store and see what is left. I was there a couple months ago and the clerk was complaining that business had dropped-off substantially after the last election. Interesting times we live in.

There is no panic.

I work part time in a LGS.
We are about 10% ahead of same time last year. Lots of people are spending tax returns. AR sales are even.
Ammo and pistols are up.
The talk is nothing is going to happen except a lot of talk.

I bought them for resale. I always get stuck with stuff that I don't want or need for my own use. I think that I might even have a Stoner magazine for the 7.62X39. You should try to get rid of one of those.

Yes, it was pretty much no sales for the gougers. My friend and I went up to the shop the guy who we both bought lowers from owns, and he bought a Ruger LCP II. Nice shop, and it's inside an archery shop that the owner's kids are in 4-H, where I was a Shooting Sports leader. I will shop both in the future.

I went by Academy Sports today and they had sold out of every AR15 PMAG they had.

Bill Hicks has sold @200,000 since the Parkland shooting. Fleet Farm had them on sale for $10 (M2) last week, they are out of all but FDE M3 window mags.

As for me, I was going to buy a lower for a build anyway, and actually had the money, and found someone who wasn't gouging prices.

I went to a gun show in Topeka, KS today. The crowd was bigger than usual, as evidenced by the longer than usual line at the opening bell. I really don't know about buying or selling; didn't talk to any vendors. I noticed a glut of ammo with many mark-downs. Looks like some of the vendors were trying unload an abundance of .22LR ammo. I bought a brick of CCI SV for $30, no tax. Saw another vendor selling the same ammo for $42 that he marked down from $50. There was very little in the way of reloading components that wasn't still overpriced. I'm looking forward to the Tulsa Show in April. By then enough time will have elapsed so we can see some kind of indication of some future trends.

Some of us have been steadily buying ammo since before the '08 panic.

Traded my only AR (to have for variety) plus cash for a Hungarian AMD-65 "AK", two months after Trump was elected. Very bad selling market, but so what...
I don't miss the "AR" at all, never liked the 16" sight distance nor the trigger (options-yes), and have no plans to sell any of the five imported "AKs", my only semi-auto Sport Utility Rifles.

The prices were already pretty delusional on so many guns. You might be familiar. I wish I had then been into one or two Sig P series handguns (or any modern handgun), but wasn't.

I agree that a big part of the increase in gun sales is tax refund related. But I also believe that there is some panic buying.
The other week I ordered 1200 rounds of IMI 5.56. Yesterday I ordered a new lightweight AR barrel. No good reason for buying one or the other, onther then they were on sale at a hell of a good price.

I picked up a barreled upper from Midway because it was on sale. I have somehow accumulated all the extra stuff to build another gun so I thought I might as well finish it when I can take advantage of a sale.

Wow. I have more than that here at my home. A LOT more.

If you have a thousand rounds of ammo for a gun you don’t have, that’s a lot of ammo. If you have a gun with only a thousand rounds of ammo for it, you’re just about out of ammo.

I see no sign of a buying panic here. I was in Scheels yesterday. They were very busy in all departments, not just the gun department.
I saw a lot of people looking at hunting rifles and handguns, but almost no one looking at AR`s.

The bigger of the LGS (has an indoor range as well) is a little sparse on handguns in the display cases. The long guns were chock a block full with about 20 AR types in a row. The salesman I talked to was feeling the buying started about a week before the latest shooting and was due to tax refunds and the normal political climate in general. In the hour I was there browsing (drooling) three females purchased their new PDW after having rented and trying said example in the indoor range. I like the sounds of this type of sales most.

I feel the tax returns have a lot to do with the spending going on now, but just it case, I did restock the primers that I used up over this winter. You can call it hoarding, but I call it being prepared.

I missed the November show; 2nd time in 15 years. Of course, I always see the high asking prices, but never see anyone pay it. There is always some dickering. Over the years I've found numerous good deals and have bought some. I often leave regretting the purchase not made. But, not having won the lottery, my funds are limited. The April show should be interesting; every show is different depending on who shows up and the political climate.

I was under the illusion that anyone of age who possibly ever wanted an AR had already bought one, but I was in Kentucky Gun Company week before last to pick up my new Ruger PCC and there was a guy in his early 40’s ahead of me in line buying a M&P rifle. He cited the Parkland shooting as his reason for buying one now.

Seriously, how could anyone who is even remotely interested in owning an AR or AK style rifle have waited until now to buy one, unless they were either under 18 or dead broke? Same with 10+ round magazines: how could someone old enough not have learned the lesson of the 1994 magazine ban?

If it’s a semi-auto that accepts detachable magazines or a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds, you should have already bought it years ago.

almost like deja vu.... except 99.9% of the auctions I browsed today were pretty much normal...

I was at Dick’s yesterday picking up fishing stuff. At the checkout the clerk asked the routine question “have you found everything you’re looking for?”.

I replied “no, I was looking for an AR15”. He got really serious and said “Oh we stopped selling those a LONG time ago”.
