Who among us are totally guns?

Hi...
I have a few interests in my life.
I have studied military history , primarily WWII, since I was a kid.
I used to play a bunch of sports but age and ill health have made that a thing of the past.
Still enjoy watching baseball and football, although the NFL has lost a lot of it's allure.
I also study paleontology, megafauna, dinosaurs and hominids.
I have owned firearms since I was about 12 years old. Currently own about 50 give or take a few. Mostly handguns, but a decent number of rifles and shotguns.
Shoot, hunt and reload.
Forgot to add building models of armored fighting vehicles.
Haven't built any in a few years, but hope to start building again once I retire next month as I should have a bit more free time.

Golf is my favorite hobby. When it comes to guns I'm all in for handguns and target shooting, not big at all on rifles or shotguns. If I ever have a chance to move out west again (spent three and 1/2 years in Montana) I'd be investing in some long range photography equipment as I love to see what's over the next hill and capturing animals in their element.

I used to be all guns, but as time and circumstances went by, they were relegated to a secondary role. Moving back to New York from Utah meant disposing of a number of pieces in order to do so, and I took a more relaxed view of it.
For a time I was seriously into stick and tissue paper planes and micro RC, but that faded once I healed up from back surgery. Every once in a while I get the hankering and bash out a kit, but the magic is gone. My other hobby is writing bad science fiction, in the hopes I'll someday figure out how to do it properly.

Family is my first focus, but when I get some "me" time, I spend it on the reloading bench or at the range.

So yeah, it's my #1 hobby.

Truthfully I no longer love hunting as much as I used to. I still fill the freezer each year but I'd have as much or more enjoyment at the range 90% of the time.

20170731_134833_000.jpg You could say my world revolves around our farm.
With the tractors, equipment, trucks, semis, home and buildings, mowing, etc,.....there is always something wanting to be done.
Aside from the guns, i like to bowhunt, fish, boat, jeep, camp, ride atvs.

We take the entire family down to Lake Norris, Tennessee every summer and try to splash all the water out with our ski boat.

In the end, my primary hobby is guns, shooting, and hunting....but i try to be well rounded.
I also read the Bible more than i read THR...believe it or not.

Great thread, very interesting to see all of the responses.

I've had a lot of hobbies first to last but motor vehicles of all sorts along with guns and shooting have been part of my life since I was way younger than I probably should have been shooting or driving. Guns are a great hobby that you can do or think about when you have time, leave unattended when you don't.

These days I spend as much time as possible with the wife and kids and am thankful for every minute. I don't get to shoot nearly as often as I used to (due more so to where I live now vs. where I used to live), but I hope to get back to a more favorable shooting situation at some point.

Split between cars and guns. I have 2 Chevelles and many more guns. I also enjoy reading nonfiction although that is not an "outdoorsy" pursuit.

Pretty much guns are it. I do other stuff, tennis & golf, read books, etc. but the time I spend on that is far outweighed by guns. Every day I spend time on guns even if its just shopping around for something new, researching a gun project or watching gun videos. Most of my friends are the same way so when we all go out on Friday nights the talk is mostly around guns.
The saying I like to use is; "When people ask me what my favorite beer is or my favorite gun my answer is the same, 'The next one'. " :)

I have two interests, cars and guns, and I'm not sure which one is the most important to me. I do and have shot a lot, but I've owned quite a number of cars in my life. I think I've owned as many cars as I have guns though the number of guns are adding up. I belong to a car club and participate in car shows, road runs and other club activities. I used to shoot rimfire benchrest but have reduced that to local club matches and now shoot rimfire silhouette as my primary competition. I just got back from the pistol range where I shot my SD pistols, 200 rounds worth, and my right hand feels it.

I COULD have written the EXACT same thing.:):):):):)

My hobby is hunting and everything connected with it I like the guns, reloading, dogs and dog training etc, etc.
If i didn't hunt i would have a classic British motorcycle. To me a car is just for getting from A to B only thing i ask is that its reliable. I'm not interested in any sport. I would rather stick needles in my eyes than watch a game of cricket :D . Soccer comes a very close second to cricket ;). Golf, whats that all about . I've faithfully followed my old bosses advice when it comes to sport. He said to me, never do anything where you need to get both feet of the ground at the same time. Its worked for me :).

Definitely my number one hobby broadly construed, as I also hunt and hand load. I consider myself a practical shooter as opposed to a collector; all of my guns have a purpose.

That said, guns are not my only pastime. I enjoy golf, hiking (with or without a gun along), travel, socializing with work and church friends, etc. A good friend is trying to get me to take up craft brewing. I like reading and watching science fiction. I enjoy guns immensely, but they are not my identity.

Kids, guns, power sports, camping, fishing, hunting, snowboarding, traveling.

Rode a street motorcycle for 15 years. Then I got a dirt bike and learned I didn't know how to ride a motorcycle. Now that racing in the woods on single track harescambles are long in the tooth I'm going to get a road bike again.

The constant for me has always been guns and reloading. Next foray here is a progressive press.

It's nice to have hobbies that overlap. I seem to rotate through the following:

Hobby woodworking, hobby metal working, hobby gunsmithing, reloading, tool design and shooting.

I hope to come up with something patentable in my retirement.

Playing music(guitar, bass, mandolin, drums) has always been my main interest, and gun stuff is right up there in second place. I'm also a sports junkie but that doesn't require me to do anything other than just watch. I love to tinker with and ride dirt bikes, but I don't get to do that very often anymore. I also have a thing for watches and knives, but again, that doesn't require much from me in terms of effort, but I can spend a few hours now and then sharpening blades.

Until the recession (more like depression), I'd go to the club to shoot at least once a week, sometimes up to three times a week.

When I got laid off, I didn't have the money to shoot.

Ever since, I've been working jobs that either didn't pay enough for me to shoot, had hours which didn't allow it or both. I let my club membership lapse since my hours didn't allow me to shoot anyway.

Right now, I have a well compensated job, but work the graveyard shift. The only opportunities I have to shoot are on my days off, and since I've been working ten hour shifts for a month, one is lost entirely to sleep.

Macro and still life photography has largely replaced shooting. Of course quite a bit of my still life wok has been handguns and ammunition.

Now that I have the money, albeit not the time, I hope to get back to shooting. Unfortunately, I probably won't be rejoining my old club because it's usually not possible to shoot there when I'm off from work. That leaves a new, and very well run public range in Berea, Ohio. It's expensive, but at least I have the money to pay for it on a weekly basis.

I’ll go back and fourth between long range, pistol shooting and shotguns. To sometimes just loading ammo or collecting.

Motor stuff is the same. We used to go to the sand dunes and sunk all our motor hobby time into that and hopped up diesels. These days it’s boats and 3 wheelers!

Shooting and reloading are just one of my hobbies. Gardening, canning, riding my Harleys, and teaching my kids and grandkids to be self sufficient take up most of my time. We recently moved into a new house on our 40 acres with my son and his wife and three kids, so landscaping will take up most of this summer and more. In fact, I haven't fired a gun in almost a year, because the trailer we lived in while the house was being built was right in front of our berm, and the guns were mostly in storage off site anyway.

For me it's Guns and Motorcycles.

I do Cowboy Action shooting, target shooting, I love my Smith & Wessons and I do my own gunsmithing and I like building ARs.
I love riding my motorcycles and I am getting ready to tear down my old Yamaha Virago and bob it out some. I have the Yamaha and I have a Kawasaki Versys. If I end up moving to SoCal later in the year I see a big cruiser coming into my life as well.

My hobbies all seem to be gun-related. I have hunted deer since I was 12. Target practice from 10. My range is 45 minutes away, so I started reloading as a way to increase my firearm - related time, and save money .

When I was younger, I "restified" a couple of classic Mustangs, rode motorcycles, and fished. Now, I fish with my kids, for their sake. My whole family enjoys hiking. But, firearms are the only money pit I can afford right now, and that budget is ridiculously low compared to most here. But, it is still my favorite hobby. I enjoy reading about the history of firearms and cartridges, studying tactics, etc. I have tried to find a new or second hobby, but nothing has piqued my interest yet...

Shooting and reloading. These are the things that primarily occupy my brain and time. I like experimenting with technology. And volunteering for some local non-profits also take some of my time and mental energy. But my first choice, if I can make it happen, is either going to the basement to do something in the reloading room or heading to the range.

Not to divert my own thread, but I have a brother-in-law and friend who just recently sold their motorcycles citing really close calls by drivers (of cars) just not paying attention. Also, in my church there is one man in a wheelchair and another who must wear long laced boots (no ankle or foot strength) following motorcycle accidents. I have never ridden one and would like to try it but these stories scare me. Any advice?

Also, I live by one of the better SASS ranges in the country - North Mountain Sportsman. They will be holding the PA state championship competition here next week. I once even purchased a Ruger SA Colt .45 Vaquero with an eye to trying it out. Then I found out you really need a pair of pistols, lever action rifle, and period shotgun to get fully immersed. Just too much money for me. But, I do like to watch - especially with the elaborate set-up at our club.

There is a quote, "I try to read the New York Times and the Bible every day so that I can get both sides". Your quote is a reminder that I need to spend more time their and less here at THR.
