I'm on a bit of a binge I guess. I stopped in at One Stop Knife Shop in Louisville again. My wife, daughter, and mother in law had some girl scout cookies to deliver to nearby family members, so I asked if they would just drop me off to hang out with Kevin for a few minutes.
My evil plan worked
With my wife out of the picture for 20-30 minutes, I was able to shop with reckless abandon. I knew I was in the market for a fixed blade. My Chris Reeve has cured me for the time being of buying folders...at the cost of the cost of the knife
So a new a new Reeve wasn't in the cards anyway. So I was looking for a stout 4"-5" tactical/outdoor fixed blade.
I looked at several that were contenders. I told Kevin that I had missed the boat a Zero Tolerance fixed blade that was discontinued a year or so back and was wanting to find something like that.
He said, "Oh, you mean the ZT180, right?" Reaches behind him and THUNK drops one on the counter
These aren't unobtainium but they are tough to find that aren't marked up to a collector's premium.
A little over 4" of blade, a thick .20 stock, and made out of the ridiculously tough vanadis 4 extra steel, this little knife is a tank.
It comes with a Spec Op brand cordura survival sheath that I am a little lukewarm on, but it does the job. I'll be making a better one in the next few months. Dont get me wrong, the sheath is well made and certainly does the tactical duty thing, but I like something more compact without pouches and cord and noisy velcro all over it.
Anyway, Kevin sold me the knife at a more than fair friend price. I'm super pleased
