Back in 1994 I had some additional income and looked hard at a "Manton" double rifle in .32-40.
Marked Manton but according to Cherry's, made in Germany.

Interesting front ring set up on the bell of the scope..................Here's one that falls in the Dream Double category: a .257 Roberts made by Simon Kalischnig, who was one of the premier Ferlach gunmakers. I would like to say it is mine but belongs to my neighbor Snooty Chuck. He has a bunch of pretty doubles like this and says this one is his favorite deer rifle...View attachment 915355 View attachment 915356 View attachment 915357
My 870 rifled barrel shot 485 grain slugs @1,900 FPS.
That’s why I switched to a 7 mag
And for a US-made and totally unique action, one must include George Hoenig.
This is in 9.3 x 74R

To open the action, you twist the barrels 1/4 turn and pull them slightly forward and down - a true "round action", also available as a shotgun or even a Vierling with rifle and shotgun barrels
White tail. A 3” slug from an 870 is “interesting”. My 7 mag feels like quite a bit less recoil, no matter what the numbers say.You switched from a 12 ga to a 7 Mag because the SG was too powerful?
Always two triggers for redundancy.
Double rifles were like having two gun, they could have made them with one trigger, carry extra Sidelocks?
Some ARE made with single triggers, but that defeats the advantage of having a DR in the first place.Double rifles were like having two gun, they could have made them with one trigger,
Didn't know he did; knew he and his partner only make 5 guns/yearshame he stopped making guns,
Ya I seen a recent video where he said no more, wish I could find it. I'll look though my video history. I like the idea of the gun, simple but a cool feat of engineering.Didn't know he did; knew he and his partner only make 5 guns/year

This article is dated February of this year.
You do NOT want a high pressure big bore rimless round in a SXS double. Rounds such as .416 Remington, Rigby, .458 Lott and 375 H&H were designed for bolt guns. And yes some have been stuffed into double rifles, but high pressure, rimless cartridges are a recipe for disaster in a double. Double rifles are designed to shoot large cased, low pressure rimmed cartridges.
If you just have to have a .416 in a double get one in a 500/.416. But I really don’t know why you’d want that non traditional modern double round when you can just get a 450/.400 that produces almost identical results. If you want a .458 in a double get one of the traditional NE round like a .450 #2. The .458 Lott would be a horrendously bad idea in a double. Same with the .458 WM. High pressure and no rim equals trouble in a double.
I read an article about that and why they decided to try and see if it even could be done.............
miniature double rifle I looked at a few years back when I was at the Galazan works picking up a shotgun.
