From years of hard work, my wrist are shot. Using a powder flask and spout is just painful. I was using a Tupperware container and homemade dippers and it was working good. But what I did not like the Tupperware if I did not have a loading table and it did not fit in any of my pockets. I was on another forum a guy was using a tobacco tin for powder. I had one I was using to hold 44 cal balls so I tried it out, it worked out great. It fits in a shirt or back pocket and I can hold it and a revolver in one hand while loading in the field and can carry the dipper in the can. Plus I already had dippers made up for all my guns. I had the Velvet tin for years. Last week at an estate sale I bought the Prince Albert tin for a dime.

What kind of powder flask are you using? The kins that have the flat spring to open and close the spout are more difficult to use...takes more strength. But there are some like the Treso and i think Traditions that doesnt use the flat leaf spring type spring...it uses a round wire coil spring...and its way easier to use. I know someone who even replaced the round coil spring to a lighter gauge for the very same reasons you have with your wrists. Maybe try that as well? But your tin methods work great too...too bad prince albert and other tobaccos are now in cardboard boxes instead of tins.

It's not just the spring it's also putting your finger over the spout and flipping the flask upside down. Anyhow the dippers are nice to use. I also have this speed loader setup. I made the cylinder press It will load my Colt pocket pistol, my Walker, and everything in between.

Kid, you have incoming check your mail today. :)

Classy look

I use a 30-30 case cut off the shoulder for a measure and an orange pill bottle with a reamed hole in the lid as a flask. For transport, the lid without a hole in it goes on.

Pill bottle flask great idea! I need to crush 3FG to make some 4FG for my nipple charger I might have to rob your idea to make a small flask for my nipple charger.

Some folks are convince that plastic measures or flasks + Black Powder will doom you to death by fiery explosion. (can you think of a better way to go?)
Sorry for any rain on your parade, your set up sounds good to me, and I wouldn't sweat the small stuff.

Yes, pipe tobacco.
It's a pretty large tin. Holds 2 oz and has plenty of room to spare.
It isn't packed tightly like the small ones.
It would hold quite a bit of BP.

To stick with the theme you could put your caps in one of these bad boys lol

Bet it would hold quite a few and be less prone to spilling everywhere. Especially on cold days I worry I'll fumble the tiny 100 count tin into the snow

Not a chance I'm a Cope Wintergreen man. In the winter when it's cold out I have been known chew Cope Snuff with a hit of Jack in it.

Cope had the whisky blend and maybe a bourbon one as well. Don't know if they still make any of not I have resorted to getting mint since every time I went to buy a can of cope other the mint or wintergreen the dummies would grab the wrong can.

I miss the cope black don't know if there still made or not. Hunting is the only time I chew I'll go all year without any,

Here in Ca. Cope Snuff in the paper cans is like eight bucks a can so I only buy once in a while. I bet you can hardly wait to crack that first can.

I live close to Pennsylvania( less then 6 miles) it's just over $3 a can there. Here In ny it's over $8 I seen some redman for $15 a pouch a few months ago. I used to pickup a can of Kayak grape but have not had any in years.

It is nice to enjoy some dip since I only use it in the fall and early winter, guess I'm not addicted it's more a tradition thing now.

I know not many guys smoke anymore, even less when in the woods. I never smoke but I can't count how many deer I've seen dad shoot with a cigarette in his mouth lol.

That's better because then you don't have to deal with the awful cardboard cans :barf:

On a hot day of work they're not hard to sweat through. If I was storing caps in one I'd have to go back to cope straight or wg for a can haha.

Kayak or Timberwolf was just about the only thing available when I was in college. The gas station at the corner of campus said that if they got the expensive stuff then it would be old before they sold it all. At 2 for $3 I bought a lot. Peach, Apple, and occasionally grape. Those fruity flavors always tasted like a jolly rancher but had a kick. I got hooked on it pretty bad my sophomore year at college, was packing kayak apple from front of the mouth back to the jaw because of a policy at work that you could finish what you had when you came through the gate but couldn’t put more in. I got really nasty sores in my jaw and it scared me into quitting. It’s been probably 10 years since I even thought about a can of dip, but I can taste the kayak apple now that I’m thinking about it.

When I first got my concealed carry permit I carried a 38 snub. The reload I carried was in a kayak can. I still have stuff in the tackle box in kayak cans.

I donr smoke but i love the smell of pipe tobacco. The captain black regular or black Cavendish....man oh man it smells great. I actually take a few puffs from a corn cob pipe to enjoy the auroma.

A friend is diabetic and her medicine comes in a container that looks like a 35mm film container, I store a pre measured amount of powder in them for my rifles, for loose powder I like the rubber maid containers (I think) with 4 snap over latches. I use a case with a copper wire handle soldered on.

I think them rubbermaid containers with the 4 lock latch tabs come with a rubber/silicone moisture barrier ring on the lid too. Would would great to store i imagine

The problem is, pipes are liars.
I too love the smell of aromatic tobaccos, but they don't taste as good as they smell. Those great smelling cherry tobaccos taste more like cherry cough syrup.

To keep this firearms related, I wouldn't carry any ammo in a plastic tobacco pouch. lol

Lol thats why i dont smoke...the smell dont match the flavor! But it smells sooooooo good. Good sweet smelling pipe tobacco and vegetable tanned leather...those smells go hand in hand in my book. They are the scent of a better time....a time i never got to live because im young and born in the wrong century lol. Oh well, i can always pretend i smoke a pipe right?
