"Really, which organization does not matter"
I will never give the time of day to the NRA.

The OP didn't ask people to put money in any specific organization.

THE POINT IS TO SUPPORT RKBA THROUGH FUNDING ORGANIZATIONS THAT FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS. There are good options out there at the national and state levels that oppose the Antis. There are smaller allied organizations that help also. There are clubs and programs that can be supported. We can even "spend" a little of that expensive ammo and our time to show new gun owners that we're the people they want to trust instead of Antis that claim we, and they, are criminals or a threat to society just for having any interest in firearms.

Don't have much money to give? Every penny helps and no donation is too small if that's all you have to give. Got some time to "donate", give that. There are a lot of ways to provide support that make a difference.

Folks that refuse to help at all in this struggle just because they have a bad taste in their mouth for a single group are ignoring all the other opportunities to help. What's the old phrase? Put up or shut up.

How does paying the state help with gun rights activism?

Just a theory.

Gun right groups (e.g., NRA) almost always sit on the opposite side of the deep state (the people who really run things at state and federal level). I have no examples of how the deep state has helped gun right groups. Mostly because deepers recognize guns as weapons in this polar opposite setting. Politicians, we have examples for sure, both good and bad.

Hunters and people carrying permits almost always sit on the same side of the table as the deep state. Mostly because deepers recognize guns as tools in these cases. We all have examples, both good and bad, of the deep state helping gun owners. The recent highly successful Wisconsin wolf hunt comes to mind as just one example.

Bottom line: 100 million new hunters / permit holders would do 100x more to guarantee our freedoms than 100 million new NRA members.

Display Unity now.

Delay actual major squabbles until After this legislation fails.

Then let it be an active, competitive sport with unfettered emotion.

UPDATE:
Leaving all feelings aside:scrutiny: (we can just pretend-for a while) ...I rejoined, with my VISA card, a very large organization with which I had had “issues”.
Will join one additional org. later today.

Let's leave the stronger emotions with the Anti-Gunners. They never even Wanted to be rational. Only feelings matter to them.
* I simply want Maximum Influence - warts and all - on the Senate. The Primary, Most Critical objective must be achieved. Warts can be surgically removed later.

Shout out with respect to the OP. Lets try to keep this on the topic of good organizations to drum up support for. I think a massive increase in new members will get the attention of those that are against us. Let's leave negative comments about any organization out of this. Please , We really need to keep this thread open so that myself and others can text/email links to it to all our friends. I know Jay Inslee and bump into him fairly often. I'd like to point him to this thread and rattle his cage a bit.

This posting prompted me to take a long look at "what am I doing to help". I've decided to donate to this site. I have set aside 1k each for the GOA and 2nd Amendment foundation. I will either be splitting my "handout" from Pelosi to fund these two more, or support a local grassroots setup here in Washington state. I used the last two to help people that needed it more than me. Now is my time to put my $ where my mouth is and do more for my Constitution that I swore an oath to protect and defend in 1982.

Maybe if this turns into a successful movement I'll buy Nancy Pelosi a lifetime membership into the NRA. I'm sure that she will send me a personal, handwritten thank you note.:rofl:

Remember, You can't complain about our ever eroding gun rights if you don't do something to help. The price of a box of ammo can go one heck of a long way to protect our precious rights if enough people would do a little bit, I know we can turn the current tide against them.

I don't have time to volunteer, I do write letters and emails. I personally want to do more, and would be grateful for any one that is willing to join any pro 2A organization of their choice.

Let's try to get this movement to go viral...... :what::what:

Did you know that you can use Amazon Smile to contribute to Gun Owners of America (GOA) every time you make an Amazon purchase at no extra charge to you?

Go to smile.amazon.com and search for Gun Owners Foundation in their charity list.

If you live in NC, you can search for Rights Watch International to give to Grass Roots North Carolina (GRNC).

Lots of educated, experienced, and plain smart people here. Other than the NRA, which group has the best track record for taking on the anti-gun groups? 2nd Amendment Foundation? Gun Owners of America?

As much as I want to, I just don't have the time to do the research. Many here have already done it.

Whats your opinion?

I'm going to donate to THR just because they allowed this thread to run:
https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...ouse-dems-pass-gun-control-bill.885256/unread.

I hope it keeps going. I will join a 2A organization, but want one that has some clout. I've given my stimulus money to people that need it more. But the last one went to a regional 2a forum like this that lets us discuss strategies against the current anti gun push.

I'll join and put 300.00 to a good organization that has a good record.

Who's with me?
The Second Amendment Foundation does outstanding work litigating gun rights.

Many of the state organizations do fantastic work on legislation. Arizona Citizens Defense League gets an A+ on this. Check out your state organizations!

I love the Second Amendment Foundation (Mas Ayoob has been the president, and Alan Gottlieb, its founder, is a tireless worker for the RKBA). It's local to me (headquartered in WA), has a great lobbying arm (the CCRKBA) and I believe, more members nationally than GOA (although GOA has a good track record for lobbying Congress as well). GOA is known as being the "only no-compromise" gun rights organization and was famously supported by Rand Paul. But SAF seems to promote more educational efforts and frankly, have a broader appeal to more people.

I still believe every RKBA supporter should belong to all three of the organizations, though -- NRA, SAF and GOA.
I belong to the NRA, SAF (life member), and AzCDL.

Under this heinous bill, an FFL could wait up to a month to hear back from the FBI... or NOT AT ALL! As I understand it, there's no recourse for the buyer; you cannot contact the FBI to make an appeal directly. Therefore, you would have very limited recourse if this happens to you.
This is incorrect. Scaremongering does not help our cause. And to maintain credibility our gun organizations need to be meticulous in describing proposed legislation.

Under this bill the FBI has 10 business days to complete the background check. If they fail to report back that the would-be buyer is OK, the buyer files an electronic appeal directly to the FBI. The FBI gets 10 business days to respond to the appeal. If the FBI does not respond by the end of the second 10-business-day period, the would-be buyer is allowed to complete the purchase. This still adds up to a whole month, which IMO is unacceptable, a right delayed is a right denied.

If the leftist media isn't your enemy when it comes to preserving the Second Amendment, you might want to rethink your positions and strategies.

Leftist media such as CNN and Yahoo are always opportunistically finding stories and packaging them creatively to make gun owners look bad. They are certainly not our friends.

Likewise, the extreme right also presents obsessive PRO gun media that also has the effect of drawing negative attention to the 2nd Amendment even if they dont intend it that way.

I'm not Jewish but I've heard that the Jewish 2A group JPFO (Jews for the Preservation of Firearm Ownership) is an excellent and very potent organization. You dont have to be Jewish to join, and they dont have some of the high profile bad rep that the NRA has in the media, thus fewer enemies in leftist media
JFPO is also affiliated with SAF, and also headquartered in Bellevue, WA.

It's like those "vote for _______" lawn signs. They're not going to convince anyone to vote for a candidate that way! All those signs do is get the other side riled up and more zealous. I love to talk about guns but I dont think media coverage from either side is generally going to help the 2nd Amendment much.

It's time to join a gun rights organization. It's time to speak to your family about joining a gun rights organization. No more waiting, or excuses. I don't care what you think about what group, doesn't matter anymore. Join a different group. Join some organization that fits you. Get the 30 or so dollars together and do it. So many great groups out there. We will have to stay together on this more than ever.

There is no reason to wait, get searching now for your group, join today, start talking to anyone who will listen, and get the numbers it is going to take to weather this storm to come.
Soon as I can get some money together, maybe with this next stimulus I’ll be donating to the LiberalGunClub, Redneck Revolt, Pink Pistols and the SRA.

.

This.

The infighting and bickering about the 2A organizations has cost us dearly. The NRA isn't perfect, and they've made mistakes. But they're still the 600 lb gorilla. The enormous amount of money they spent on the 2016 race got Trump elected, according to both Trump and Hilary. If the folks that have been bashing them would have joined, and voted for directors they agreed with, we wouldn't be in the current mess we're in.

I belong to several more 2A groups as well. I vote in the board elections, and I write letters and email making my opinions known. The NRA is a better organization today because of folks doing just that. Join it, or rejoin it, and help make it even better.

After reading this thread I joined GOA yesterday and have been a NRA member for a number of years. I'll look into SAF too.

It was good timing on this topic. Realized my NRA membership expired the week this was posted.

It's to easy to forget to renew the NRA, they'll be sending mail urging me to renew for the whole year so it's pretty worthless letting them remind you. The only way I know my membership is expired is no magazine.
