Hard to go wrong with a Model 10

Love that M&P with the round butt and hard rubber grips! It looks so "old timey", like it was more from the turn of the century rather than 1939!

Thanks. They’re pretty cool, I’ve posted their picture a couple of times.

They are sterling silver with a raised copper Mexican eagle/serpent and an Aztec calendar on both sides.

My great uncle was raised in the desert of Southern Nevada, which had a huge Navajo and Mexican influence (especially in the early 1900’s when he emigrated there from Scotland). He always appreciated the history and traditions of those people, right down to these rather showy, but slippery, silver grips on his duty gun. He also wore one of several different thin leather bolo ties with sterling/turquoise slides he had made by a Navajo tribal member for as long as I can recall. He had a different tie for every day of the week if I remember right.

2nd & 3rd guns I bought were both 10-5s.
2nd was a 4" which I still have & LOVE, the 3rd gun was a 2"
I realized the 2" square butt was a bit big for CC, so I traded it.

I've fired proly 1,000 rounds thru the 4"

shoot out between my md 10 and victory md. both did very well.

The snub Model 10 is one of my all-time favorite revolvers. Nice score, OP.
Heck, any Model 10... Especially the ol' pencil barrel 4-inchers.
I have a 10-7 in nickel. (It looks much nicer in person, for some reason, nickel is difficult to photograph well)

Yeah, it's one of my favorites. The M10 family is hard to beat.

Picked these two up yesterday. The only thing better than a 2" Model 10, is a 2.5" Model 19.

Shot 100 rounds from both this morning and wasnt disappointed.

Id be all over that 66 too! As well as a 2" 64.

Always have my eye out for one, but rarely see them here.

I don't have any Model 10's. Never had any use for them.











But I do have a 2" M&P, and three Model 64's

The 2.5" Model 66 is my favorite .357 snubbie in all the world, and probably (IMO) the most practical snub revolver in existence. Nice!

If I remember right, Winchester developed the 125 gr 357 Magnum Silvertip round with the 2.5” barrel guns in mind. They claimed that it preformed better in the 2.5” guns then the 158 gr.
I’m still hoping to find a 2.5” Model 66.

K-frame S&W revolvers are great but I generally prefer ones with adjustable sights. I like my Model 14's and Model 15's.

I do have a 1920's manufacture 32-20 K-frame with fixed sights. It shoots well and accurately with the appropriate ammunition.

Maybe I need to add a Model 10 to my collection just for grins and giggles.

I have a Smith & Wesson model 10 - 8. It's my range pal I call it Billy.

I would like to find a shooter Model 10 2” one of these days, but I wouldn’t be interested in paying today’s prices that’s for sure. I traded a very average condition CZ82 for my 1949 M&P in 2013 and I think I came out of that one on top.

I just picked one up a few weeks ago, I posted it here. First one I've owned, though I have owned a couple of 19's. Here is is before I cleaned it up, Model 10 no dash, it looks pretty much like it's new after cleaning and oiling, I still haven't fired it. I'd love to get a 4" of this same vintage and condition.View attachment 1019756

I’ve decided. I’m going to put my max dollar number on several on GB if I get it - fine. If not that’s ok too. I have to have a model 10. Heavy barrel!

I see that sort of craziness on GB all the time and gave up bothering a while back. Ive come to the conclusion a lot of people are just drunk, stupid, crazy, and likely, all three.

Model 10's are plentiful enough that if you have a halfway decent local shop, with a good turnaround of guns, you usually see Model 10's (and a few others) come along before too long and on a pretty regular basis. And even though the older S&W's are going up in price, you can still usually find decent deals on nice guns.

Besides, the chase itself is half the fun. Ahhh...... the satisfaction!

It is going to need a cyl release button. It’s missing. Maybe numrich? Are there several styles? Sorry to hijack! My first sw revolver btw!

@shoebox1.1 Numrich has all kinds of parts for the Smiths. You may need the dash# to get the right one but my bet is they will have it.
I ordered an ejector rod and some grip panels for my M&P from them, and received the parts in about a week.
