You guys are gonna love to hate this commercially made "zip gun" in 9mm or .380...

It costs just over $100 and must be disassembled to reload (it's a single shot).

It weighs 10 oz. and will soon be made in .223. I may buy one in .223 just to watch other people shoot it, LOL.

This has been around for what seems like a couple of years. I don't remember if anyone here has reported on actually firing one.

Yep, it has been discussed a couple of times on here.
Oops! Wait, the 9mm one was discussed. Not a 5.56 / .223 model.
I wouldn’t want the 9mm and sure wouldn’t want the .223 model.

I think whoever can't afford a Hi Point has bigger problems in their life than what a gun will help them with. At the very least a single shot is an extremely simple gun that will likely last a long time. I just don't see people buying these.

A LCP 380 is "better than nothing" - how is that better than a LCP 380? I don't carry less than 9mm

This has been around for a little while and has always seemed like a monumentally bad idea to me.
I propose a new marketing campaign for these guys: "Get your wrists fused without expensive surgery!"

I just don't see the market for this.

On the other hand, the repop of the OSS Liberator pistol, a similar concept, has a place because of the historical context. People might buy it to fill a hole in their collection, not to actually use.

I think I would rather have one of the FP-45 Liberator as a history piece. Not much chance I would ever use it.

I don't know, maybe I was a little hasty, it probably will get bought by some folks, me personally, I would buy this instead even though it cost twice as much. I just dont like the trigger setup on the Altor.

Who know, this may be where the idea came from

I have one of those Pedersoli. More fun than should be legal.
One of the sales guys at a gun shop I go to bought an Altor .380 and had the barrel threaded then put a suppressor on it. At ten feet using sub-sonics you can't hear it go off but it's kinda cumbersome and long. The gunsmith at that shop who threaded the barrel made an integral suppressor out of the barrel. It's more compact and also cant' be heard at ten feet using sub-sonics. The shop sells suppressors so I guess for them it advertising.

i can see that trigger slipping in someones finger - i think I will pass though if I ever need a zip gun, maybe I will reconsider:)
,
I think the trigger slipping off the finger is how they work. Pulling the trigger causes
the firing pin to retract, and when the trigger slips off the finger, the gun fires.

Exactly and if someone has one in their hand and has it pulled back and the finger slips off prematurely, then what? Maybe it has non-skid on it, or is serrated enough that this will not likely happen.

reminds me of those home mad spitball guns that use rubber bands to fire a spitball across the room. Only this one throws a .380

I'd give $25 for one of those. On second thought,,,,, it looks too much like a cordless hair dryer, so my wife might blow her brains out if she saw it. :)
Nah. The things tiny. Way too small to be confused with a hairdryer. It’s about the size of one of them fancy lighters the manbun brigade like to use for whatever it is they been smokin. No offense to any fellow posters who sport a manbun and smoke wacky t’backy.

well, I don't want to think to longabout the body parts you might lose shoving one of those in your pants pocket or appendix carry holster

I'll get far greater joy sending 100 bucks worth of ammo downrange from any gun I own rather than pissing money away on such a useless novelty item.

I think I am in the minority here, but I wouldn’t mind one. Onion field gun when all else fails. This price is right for sure. I am just glad I live somewhere where I can buy one or buy something better. 9mm snake shot also come to mind as something that maybe useful to some people. I would definitely pass on a .223 one.
