Guns you love, but thought you’d hate

I can't say I have ever bought a gun I thought I would hate, but I have bought a couple I thought I would love, but didn't like at all.

I thought the same and started a thread…

Sarsilmaz b6. I didn't think I'd hate it. But, I didn't think I'd love it either. It just shoots and pretty dang accurate straight out of the box. $354 NO fails what so ever and eats everything I put in it. Has become my favorite shooter.

I nearly bought a compact steel framed Sarsilmaz a few years ago. I think I would have bought it but the idiot counter guy just wouldn’t shut up with his lame used car salesman pitch. I have wondered if I would have actually liked that heavy little pistol.

For me there have been a few. Mostly stuff that I saw an insanely good deal on and figured I would sell it down the road for a profit when the opportunity came up if I hated it as much as I thought I would.

Colt 6920. Turned out I am really dang good with it even out to 500 yards. With an upgraded trigger and butt stock It's become my go too for competitions.

Glock 22. I don't LOVE it but I certainly don't hate it like I thought. The thing hasn't proven to be 100% reliable like everyone says they are, but again, I surprised myself...I am really darn good with this one too. A stove pipe happens every 100-200 rounds ish so it's not a love affair but I do actually like it.

Glock 48. The thing is accurate as can be and I like the way it feels.

FN FNX40. This one started me on the road to my love affair with with DA/SA pistols.

I will go pistols. I owned(a lot), sold, carried, you name it guns for 20 years before I bought my third pistol(Sig P226). And I owned 20 revolvers/deer rifles before I owned my second pistol(Kahr K40). It is probably because my first pistol was a Gen3 Glock 19 that has never done anything but shoot everything I feed it very accurately and very easily. Seemed boring compared to levers and cylinders and bolts.

That bug changed with the 226. But it still took a while. I owned it for five years before I even shot it. But once I finally got it out I haven't looked back. I still own more revolvers than pistols but shoot, buy sell, and trade the pistols a LOT more.

Glock 26. It was a friend's gun I tried at an indoor range in Florida. Very comfortable, really accurate for me.
