Ruger SFAR Drop

I've still got my piston SR-762 with extra uppers in 6.5 creedmoor, 243, and 308... all with 24" barrels. But they weigh 10-12#s so I'll closely watch this breaking news. :)

Moving doesn't fix the problems, N.Y. Is just the first and won't be the last.
That's true. But lots of places have better laws. I'm in the same boat to a lesser degree here in Washington, but luckily we can still get one with a stupid extra fee. I'm moving to Montana though, where NOBODY bats an eye at another semi auto.

Can't wait to play with an sfar! Any idea on delivery dates?

I saw this on TFB and ran over here, I'm almost certainly in. I have a bunch of .308 components left over and have been thinking about picking up another .308, but couldn't bring myself to get another full sized porker AR-10. I liked my Rogue and kind of regretted selling it, a Rogue by Ruger is more my speed even if it is about about a pound more.

I would prefer an intermediate length gas system on the 16", but I can probably make it work well with my cans using the included AGB.

"Bolt and barrel extensions are CNC-machined from high-strength super alloy steel that outperforms traditional C158 bolts. Tapered lug geometry further strengthens the breech to support larger short-action cartridges."

I heard that POF used AerMet 100 for the bolt and barrel extensions for the Rogue to be able to use roughly AR-15 sized components, it seems like Ruger is using some similar high strength/fatigue alloy as well. All together super cool, these are already shipping, I'm excited to get my mitts on one.

Color me interested!

I've got a DSA SA-58 Para FAL with a boat load of magazines that I've been thinking of trading for "something". What's held me back is a situation similar to Gtscotty, I've got a bunch of .308 components and a a lot of reloaded rounds for the FAL. I didn't really want to invest in a .308 bolt gun because I've already got most of my mid-range hunting rifles covered.

This would get me something to utilize what I've got on hand while shaving some weight and picking up some increased accuracy. FALs are going at a premium, so I can probably afford the Ruger and a better optic. Could turn out to be a heck of a hog hunting rifle.

If a guy is A.) a Ruger fan and B.) just started an Aero AR-10 build. Think it’d be an idea to maybe sell the Aero Lower and wait for a Small Frame Ruger?

I'd just use it as an excuse to build a heavier bench gun and buy the Ruger outright as a field gun.

While Rugers are generally solid, and rarely show off vaporware, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

AR 10's would have not gotten off the ground if remington didnt destroy the 30 AR round and rifle. the bolt was beefed up for the round not hogged out like this Ruger. think of necking that round from 6mm 6.5mm 7mm 338

Thats a good point. But I bought the Aero Lower myself so it’s already registered to me. And a lower and a basic parts kit is all the money I have into it. Nothing more. Also. I’m getting this purely as a field tool. I have other rifles for long range bench stuff.

If it's like the SR762 I'd hold off for the gen III model.

Then hopefully they don't do the same thing and finally get it to run out of the box and discontinue it.

i think I need one. Throw a 3X9 and a green web sling on it, weigh it against my MP10 and the lighter rifle stays.

i have never tried a ruger AR of any kind. I did check out the piston 556 model a few years back and it seemed real nice, if a bit heavy.
