What is the most expensive POS you ever bought?

CZ82 that I bought from a local dealer to "throw him a bone" so to speak for being an overall good guy. The gun was total crap. The gun was returned to the wholesale dealer but the gun that he replaced it with with was just as bad.

Wouldn't feed. After talking with Kimber I had zero faith in their ability/desire to repair. Local smith re-cut the lugs, removed the sharp edges from the extractor and installed a lighter extractor spring. Worked great after that. Sold it and moved on.

Finally dumped it for a real Ruger and never looked back.

I bought this new and it cost $450.00, back in the day when a dollar was worth about 25 cents. (Now it is worth even less)

Burrs on the firing pin hole caused failures to feed. I was able to fix that. Then the frame was peening its self out around 3000 rounds. When the front sight fell out, I sent the thing back to Colt. They installed the front sight and replaced the frame. But they did not fix the early unlock problem and the new frame was getting peened and Colt did not extend my warranty. The warranty would have ended before the new frame peened out.

Instead to sending it back to Colt, I sent it off to Wilson Combat. I put about $700 more into the pistol, had them put a match barrel, beavertail, Bomars, their front sight (which won’t fall out), and more work.

I had to wait two years, but the smiths at Wilson Combat really know what they are doing and now I have a very nice M1911.

Colt should not have shoveled expensive garbage out, but they sure did.

See the ring ahead of the chamber? That is the way it came from Colt. Colt ringed the barrel in machining the locking lugs.

I haven't bought a total POS yet. Although my Taurus Tracker in .22 is beginning to annoy. It can hardly get through 100 rounds without binding. Then again maybe .22 revolvers are just like that.

I'm not a Taurus hater or basher, but from what I understand it's hit or miss with their products. I bought a stainless pt1911 and I couldn't hold better than a 12" group at 7 yards. It also had feeding and extracting problems. I guess I got the "miss" because my dad has a stainless pt1911 that runs great and is a very accurate pistol. Firing his pt1911 was the reason I bought one. I ended up trading it straight up to the dealer I bought it from for a NIB EAA Witness Elite Match .45

SIG-Sauer Revolution Carry 1911. It was $949, the sales tax bringing it up to over a grand. It went exactly one round (the one in the chamber) before its first malfunction, broke an extractor and shed firing pin safety parts on the range floor, mixed in with the brass and never to be seen again. SIG did repair it promptly and finally replace it (to their credit), but then the replacement broke.

A $300 Taurus Model 94 in 22LR. They either work good or they suck. Guess which I bought. Cylinder binding, lead spitting, lumpy triggered !@#$ .

In '98 I bought a '95 Chevy Silverado C1500 w/ the 350. Pretty truck, silver with a dark metallic blue mid section. I later learned that the last guy who owned it pulled a 30'+ horse trailer with it (I'm guessing at least double the truck's tow rating). Guess how long the tranny lasted? Yup, 2 weeks after the warranty expired :banghead: . Great truck otherwise.

Taurus PT-92 9mm. Didn't even make it thru the first mag. The slide locked up and the rear sights fell off. My first and last Taurus.

mine was a vulcan --94 a copy of the mp5 it and the company backing it were total crap. $1200 for a lesson learned

What this thread tells me is that no matter what you pay, no matter who made it, there's a chance you'll get the one bad sample of a design.

This thread has included a CZ82, Beretta 92FS, and a Browning Hi-Power. I've shot all of them, and they were great to me. No FTE or failure to feed. I could usually hit something as far as 25 yards out with each. Sometimes though, it will happen to a gun. Sometimes it's because of a slight mistake that wasn't caught on the assembly line, other times its because of a small user error that turned into a large one.

But to the guy who said the CZ82 was crap, what on earth went wrong? Your the first guy in 1,000,000 positive reviews to say anything negative.

EDIT: To bring this all the way back to the topic though, my 1999 Pontiac Grand Am. NEVER AGAIN!

Jad, I wouldn't say that pickup was a POS, just abused.
