I get hours of entertainment from reading the "best gun seller lies" thread. Its my favorite for killing time. However I have heard some pretty tall tales from internet experts as well. Hows about we start a thread with the funniest things you have heard from these couch commandos. Ill start it off.

I was an armorer 40 years ago and could take a standard m14 from semi to auto in short order with just a few files. Trick was to do it well enough not to create runaway gun. That is why you should not be able to posess an m14 without proper permits.

From firearms sales websites:

Rare!

Not very many made.

Seldom seen.

NIB, only fired about 50 rounds.

From a widow.

Been in a closet for 30 years.

Sure to increase in value.

Will make great sniper rifle.

NIB, only fired about 50 rounds.

I have seen many handguns advertised as "LNIB, less than 500 rounds fired", and a few here and there that claimed a gun was LNIB because it had less than 1000 rounds fired.

As a martial artist......

In my training in the martial arts....

When I was special forces.....

From a comparison of the 308 to 30-06:

"In all actuality the .308 off the shelf is loaded to higher velocity and chamber pressure than any .30-06. Chronograph them and see. The odd six is WAY behind in Factory Loads.

The Odd Six is just like the .30/40 Krag or .303 British. Outdated. It is not what our US ARMY SNIPERS used in WWII or Korea or Vietnam. "

.."got a buddy over in iraq pickin off towelheads at 900+ yards with headshots. to qualify for his position as a sniper he had to hit a target the size of a dime at 1,000 yards 3 times with a 100% average."

:rolleyes:_________Here are a few that come up frequently__________:rolleyes:

can shoot 1/2" groups all day long if I do my part......

discounting the fliers......

this is my sniper rifle......

Loving this one right now

Selling my NEW 2009 Dan Wesson Heritage RZ-45 (Razorback), which as
many of you know is incredibly hard to find now (and is much more desirable
than the new 2010 models because of the new somewhat ugly 2010 finish
and absence of the Clark style slide serrations on the top of the slide).
Selling to fund a project gun. Many like the 2009 finish a lot better, much
more classy and sexy. As many of you also know, prices have increased A
LOT for all Dan Wesson 1911s, especially the 2009 Heritage models since the new
ones came out.

Looks is his opinion, the 2010 model has A LOT of changes that cost money to put into effect and i guess since the 2010 model's went up in price, that makes the 2009's more expensive even though they are creating more of them this year.

Gotta love a hard sale, LOL!

"I'm not anti-gun, but..."

"I handle firearms in a safe manner, but let me tell you about my negligent discharge."

"I'm one of the best shooters you'll ever meet. What? No, I don't need to compete to prove that I'm good."

knockdown power. The absolute worst myth propogated on message boards and in gunshops. I have exhausted myself trying to dispell this one talking to people ranging from modern warfare-playing teeny boppers to men 30 years my senior and beyond.

"my m4 in iraq shot .75" at 200 yards with an acog"

i had a friend come back and swear up and down that was true... and to be honest i guess having that level of confidence is good!
he is probably over there with his squadmate "see that guy 200yards over there? you shoot him in the left eye ill hit the right eye" lol

These are getting hard to find,- yea if you are blind
Almost new- either it is or it ain't
The "safe" thing is way over used, I sincerely doubt that every guy with a kel-tec has a three thousand dollar safe.
Wife says it has to go, sell her shoes and bags, you spineless wimp.
Selling for a friend, -that the same friend who got the VD
From my "Private" Collection,- what are you the Smithsonian. And do you have a public collection
My wife says it kicks too much for her, -Gay-
Funding another project, Like what, a Monorail

That line is used by more internet forum members than there are benchrest shooters in existence. That, I believe, is his point.

Justin beat me to mine though...
"I am about as pro 2nd Amendment as anyone you'll ever meet, but..."

"I CC without a permit everywhere with no exceptions - it's my right!" (I believe the guy was in CO.)

Oh yeah, I forgot some real gems:

"sensible, gun-safety laws"

"common-sense gun laws"

"reasonable gun control"

"assault weapons"

"hunters don't need a ________" (fill in the blank with any kind of firearm)

"Obama isn't anti-gun"

"we need a bi-partisan solution to the gun violence problem"
