Glocks aren't the best.....

i will continue to vouch for glock although i am not a fanboy. when i was shopping for a handgun for ccw i looked at several different options. i found in glock what i couldnt find in the other brands: high capacity in a smaller sized frame, lightweight, able to take lots of abuse, nearly rust proof, a field proven track record for reliability, and lots of after market options should i get the urge.

while a glock may not be the best handgun for you it will be the best for someone else.

Unless someone owns an item, their opinion counts for nothing.

When someone owns an item, their opinion counts for nothing.

I make my own decisions, and they're not based on anothers likes or wants.

Glance at this and maybe you'll realize that sometimes even "haters" can become "believers"... and this goes for ANYTHING.

And while I am at it I know Glocks arent the best. Neither are CZs, Colts, Kimbers, Springfields, Smith and Wessons, Tauri, or any other manufacturer.

I was with ya up to Smith and Wesson. We'll have to respectfully disagree, since S&W does, in fact, make the best pistols :neener:

I used to shoot and carry Sigs, and poo-pooed Glocks as plastic, blocky, unergonomic, ugly, etc...

Then I bought one, "just as a beater to leave in the glove box"...

That was early 2006; I've barely looked at any other pistol since. You can chalk me up as a certified Glock fanboy/koolaid drinker. They are the best. :)

I was part of the anti-Glock crowd. Then, due to circumstances, I shot a couple of mags through a G19. Now I own a G19. Fantastic pistol. My disdain for Glocks was undeserved. But, I haven't sold any of my other pistols, or revolvers.

We all have our favorites and some folks don't mind telling everyone what they prefer.

Some folks even choose forum names like "ARLover" to let everyone know what they're a fan of.

What? I love Automatic Rifles too! :D;)

When I first held a Glock 17, my response was, "***??? Why would anyone make a plastic gun?!"

After 9 Glocks and counting, I guess I am a fan ....

I'm a huge sig fan or "fanboy" -- what's the difference again?

Oh yes, and I like the G29!:)

There is NO best.

Glocks are completely usable, functional pistols with an acceptable level of accuracy and reliability for not only the average gun owner who goes to the range maybe three times a year, but also for serious shooters like Dave Sevigny who burn through tens of thousands of rounds a year.

The same can be said of pretty much any major brand of handgun made by any of the reputable manufacturers.

Most fanboys would probably realize this if they'd spend less time arguing on the internet and more time at the range actually learning how to shoot.

We have pistol competitions, "run and gun", every once in a while when everybody is boasting thier fanboyisms.

We heard of this idea here on the net.
50 levels of run and gun. 20 rounds spent each level. Sometimes we have an obvius winner by level 25 and quit.

Hits count for points, ties are broken by the time clock. If your gun fails in any way you forfit the level. Fail to lock open after the stage deosn't count as a failure because your done anyway. You'd be suprized how many failures we have.

There's allway a Glock in the top 3, allways 2 in the top 5. That says alot. Out of the comps we've done, of all the Pistols that have completed the comp with ZERO failures, more than half were Glocks. Flawless Glock finishes out number all other brands combined for us.

Most of us would rather be shooting something else, but Glocks do work very, very well for alot of us.

I think it has less to do with (fill in the blank) fanboys than (fill in the blank) haters. There are certain people who just make up their minds that (fill in the blank) guns suck. Someone can make a very positive statement about why they prefer (fill in the blank) guns. To the haters they are suddenly fanboys because they disagree with them.

I am certainly not a hater of Glocks, a G19 is on my to buy list. I'm actually a fan of Glock fanboys as well. I find the mis-guided pedestal worship that seems particularly fervent among Glock fans to be entertaining. It's all in good fun, in fact I like 'em all. I do love AR's. And Sigs, HKs, M&Ps, Glocks, Remingtons, Benellis, etc.

Been very happy match shooting with stock G22 - very reliable and accurate.

Currently practicing with G27 to compete with next. :D

:uhoh:
You mean they are supposed to shoot them? But then they will get dirty and they will have to clean them.
:banghead:
:D

Glocks the best...hmmp i doubt. Glocks as good value then maybe yeah they are the best in value. Meaning they are cheap and they are good guns. They are more quality than the dollar value they are asking for their gun. S&W M&P, HKs maybe are better just gun qulaity alone but value i will go with glocks.

It's funny to me for the people who don't care for Glocks are real nonchalant and try to act impartial..... They say things like " yes Glocks are a perfectly acceptable weapon"....but I know they are thinking "I freaking hate them!!!!"

Just say it!!! Your phony remarks are transparent!

:)

I am a huge fan of their entire subcompact lineup, I don't think any company has executed that type of pistol better, yes they are a little thicker than, say, a Kahr, but they are nice and smooth and shoot extremely well.

And they taught me that the pinky is worse than overrated.

But there are tons of guns out there that are just fine, whatever works for people is good to go.

I'd say I'm really an FNP fanboy though, I just appreciate Glocks.

I've noticed CZ Fanboys are pretty fanatical as well. The AR vs AK fanboys are pretty blinded by their choices as well. Don't know about the revolver crowd.

I would have to agree that glocks are not the best. However, that is the best I can afford and that's why I carry a Glock. Are they ugly? You're dang right they are! Do they work? You're dang right they do!

I've yet to see a fanboy base like the Glock fanboy base. I think in part it is because they are less expensive than many handguns, at least at one time. Therefore, many first time buyers own Glocks. These are among the most adamant "mine is the best" gun owners.
I'm sure that's what it is. smiley_freak.gif

From my perspective Glocks are the best for the purposes of my agency.

I hated Glocks until I went to the Police Academy with a Glock 22. HK was it for me. I was an experienced shooter, but over half of my class had never fired a gun (yes, that should scare you). In a matter of a week a couple of instructors managed to turn everyone in the class (except the one person not shooting a Glock) into decent shooters.

I am now in charge of maintaining about 150 Glocks for our officers. 3/4 of them never shoot except when we make them. Their guns are abused, neglected, cleaned once a year during armorer maintenance, carried every day in the snow, rain, sleet, mud... And they still work every time.

Glock sends their rep to US and teaches US to work on the guns (the armorer school is only one day). They sell us parts at a discounted price. Despite some officers best efforts, none of the guns rust (granted, it is a bit dry in Arizona). They just plain work. Reasonably accurate (for our purposes), superbly reliable, easy to maintain, nearly indestructible (don’t drop an open slide on a concrete floor), and cost effective.

We looked into other brands, tried them, shot them, and turned them down. I believe some of the other guns are as good (we tried the S&W M&P and really like it), but no other company offers the complete package that Glock does. That is why I say there is no better gun for OUR purposes. It could be a different story for individual users.

As a side note, we got to shoot the 4th Gen 22 last fall before they officially existed. We were very impressed and couldn’t believe how much recoil the new spring took out. Still more than a 9mm, but definitely less than a 3rd Gen 22. The new frame has a much better fit for small-handed shooters, but still isn’t quite the glove fit of a Sig or CZ. We can’t wait to get them in.

these threads are getting old. EVERY HANDGUN YOU BUY SHOULD BE SET TO YOUR SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS. NOT BASED OFF OF WHAT OTHER'S VIEW AS "THE BEST".

Sorry.

Sidearmed...That's a pretty wide brush you're paintin' with. People can prefer one weapon system over another without hating the other. I prefer Smith & Wesson's revolvers..their older ones anyway...over Colt's. That doesn't mean that I hate Colt revolvers. I prefer Smith & wesson's K-frame revolvers over the N-Frames...but I don't hate the N-frames...and I've got large enough nads to be comfortable with the N-frames. I simply prefer the Ks.

Sometimes one weapon is chosen over another for other reasons. No secret that I'm a 1911 fan...but at the present, I've got a 3-inch Smith Model 13 on my belt, and it's there for most of my carry uses....at home and away. I still like 1911s, but most of the time, the revolver is perfectly suitable.
