Which is the best buy and which is best for CCW? I know nothing about Glocks or CZ's and I want another 9mm. I'm leaning in the direction of the CZ. This will be my last purchase for awhile. I can't afford to break the bank and these two are just barely within my price range.

For me personally it would be the CZ... I carried a G26 for almost a year and eventually traded it off for a CZ PO1, which is a much better handgun for me..

The Glock 19 is much smaller, but either gun is the same thickness and it won't matter inside of your waistband.

The CZ75 can be carried with the hammer back, in single action. If you prefer a short, crisp trigger go with the CZ. If you don't want to carry with the hammer back, go with the Glock.

Both are quality guns.

A better comparison/contrast would be the CZ PCR and the Glock 19, about same size/weight/etc. I carry a Glock at work, but off duty it's CZ for me. It's a better fit, better accuracy, better everything for me, YMMV.

REAPER4206969: ...However, the Glock 19/23 is generally considered the CCW pistol.

:scrutiny:

By who? The Glock Forum?

I have a Glock 19 which is a great handgun. While it is accurate and reliable, it is also as fat as Oprah Winfrey. Fat does not hide as easily as skinny & small.

IMHO the G19 is far from the CCW pistol. Heck, even Glock realized that and made the G26 sub compact. (which is still a blimp compared to a Kahr PM9)

But as the OP is asking us to recommend either the G19 vs the CZ75...........I'll vote for the G19. Fat is one problem, fat AND heavy is something entirely worse.

You're definitely leaning in the right direction.....CZ....Although if you plan to CC go with one of the compact 75 variants....PCR, P01, P06 etc.

Yes, the Glock will be a bit lighter but that should not, by any means be the only reason for choosing a CC sidearm. Buy a quality belt while you're at it and forget about the few extra ounces.

You asked two questions, which have different answers IMO.

Which is the best buy? The CZ-75B.
Which is best for CCW? The G19.

If you could only have one for a while? Hmm, tough. My first handgun was a 75B, and I would do it the same if I had to do it again. Then again, I am the sort of person who likes to have "nice" things, I take pride in ownership. Not everyone does, and I do not mean that in a bad way. For lots of folks, guns are simply tools and should be treated as such. From a strictly utilitarian perspective, you can't do much better than a G19.

CZ-75D PCR or P-01 would be more comparable to the G19.

CZ all the way.

I own both a 19 and a 75b. They have been equally reliable and, in practical terms, equally accurate for me. I like the feel of the CZ better; I like the appearance of the CZ better; I like shooting the CZ better. But I CCW the Glock--because of weight and size.

If you have to choose between just these two and you really want a gun you're likely to carry, I'd recommend the 19. If you can bide your time and find a smaller/lighter CZ variant in your price range, I'd recommend that instead.

Hello friends and neighbors // Have you fired both? Rent/borrow each and you will naturally shoot one better. Thats how I chose the CZ 75B in .40cal

The DA first pull SA for the rest of the CZ75B is different for some folks. It is a long heavy pistol but slimmer than the 2075RAMI CZs subcompact. I shoot them in .40cal. and the RAMI is snappy weak hand or dual wield, the 75B is smooth and soaks up the recoil. The newer poly RAMI sounds right for you IMH0 lighter, slimmer 9mm around $570+ -.
Not saying my way is the right way for any but me I like carrying the CZ75B in half cock.
I should say in practice, I'm not nearly a good enough shot yet with the CZ75B or the CZ2075RAMI for them to replace my S&W 442 .38 or my .357s as my carry choices.

I guess you can tell, I like all I hear about Glocks they just don't feel right when I handle/ shoot them.

If you got a cz75 compact it would be a little better for cc, but I think either is fine- I'm planning to get both :) Tell us what one you get and write us up a range report!

On the cz I didn't like how small the slide is, it's harder to rack it in case of a jam/reload; and I feel that it hinders its' combat functionality.

I would say a Glock 19 but you really can't go wrong either way. If going with a CZ, get a compact one for CCW. I really like CZ's but I also think a Glock 19 is a great gun for carry and the range.

I like CZs but would go with the G19 hands down as better for CCW and Best Buy.

Here's some of the reasons for my decision...

1. Proven reliability
2. Very simple internals - less to go wrong and easier to maintain
3. High Cap mags - up to 32 rounds are available everywhere. 32 rounds is a heck of a lot of firepower for a compact handgun.
4. Spare mags and parts are readily available and cheap
5. In a SHTF situation, there are a lot of Glocks around to canabilize
6. Very short trigger reset...

CZ's are reliable and very accurate, they have GREAT ergonomics, but are a more complex design and I don't like that personally, especially when my life is on the line. YMMV...

Both are nice guns but the CZ's ergonomics are a great deal better for me, not sure what would work best for you. Don't rule out the CZ P-01 which can be found for a ridiculously low price at top gun supply (provided they haven't all been sold already).

Paladin, I have had 300% more Glocks fail in my hand than CZs. :) But my opinion is just my opinion, it's up to the OP to make up his/her mind.

like what MikePGS said. Top Gun Supply has NIB P01s going for 459 w/2 mags. A deal that just can not be beat.

For CCW, although a good holster and especially belt helps, the heavy CZ will wear on you by the end of the day, while the lighter Glock carries easily. A more "apples to apples" comparison would be the Glock vs. the PCR or P-01. Then the decision becomes much tougher. I have both a Glock 19 (1998) and a PCR (2007) myself. :)

I'd take the CZ since I love the shape and feel of them, whereas the Glock doesn't fit my hand well. If they are both comfortable to hold then you really can't go wrong.

I would go with the CZ. I sold my Glock 17 this week and we picked up a CZ 85B. iF YOU WANT STEEL find a cz75 compact either the regular on that can be carried cocked and lock or the d model compact with the decocker.

Comparing the Glock 19 to the CZ 75B Compact....

Overall length:
Glock = 6.85"
CZ = 7.20"

Width:
Glock = 1.18"
CZ = 1.40"

Weight empty:
Glock = 20.99 oz.
CZ = 36.00 oz

Mag cap:
Glock = 15
CZ = 14

If you're looking to carry concealed the G19 is a much better choice than the Compact CZ 75B.
Heck, the CZ weighs more empty than the G19 weighs loaded with 15 rounds in the magazine (29.98 oz loaded).
