My winchester 97. If the trigger b0rks, at least I can still fire it. plus I can wire the trigger for a deadman switch. good enough for WWI, good enough for the end of the world.

If I could afford it? SPAS12 or a high standard 10A.

I plan on raiding my local gun stores in the event of the apocalypse. I guess I'll take whatever they have to offer plus my Mossberg 500 and NEF Pardner chopped down.

HSO-

That's good :) We just watched Evil Dead I and II last week.

Anyway, for me, my 11-87 Police. But........I'd also want a super-short NEF 12 ga. Not very tacticool, I know, but it's virtually impossible for anything to go wrong with them. Pumps, autos and even side by sides have more delicate internal parts

I'd take my 870P or Ithaca 37.

While I think a good semiauto is more capable as a fighting gun, in a longer term SHTF situation I'd want something a bit less care intensive and able to use a wider variety of loads.

The point I was trying to make is that the whole fantasy concept of a "Doomsday" anything is foolish. SHTF and EOTWAWKI and Doomsday threads are simply unrealistic fantasies.

If you want a real Doomsday shotgun get a full auto Atchison, USAS-12, AA-12 or converted Saiga-12 with drums and pump enough iron to be able to wield one in each hand like a role playing game character.

On the other hand, a handy shotgun that will serve for defensive and hunting purposes that is durable and easily maintainable AND that eats any sort of shotgun shell you can find to stuff into it is certainly an interesting topic.

BTW, the USAS-12 selective fire model is a big unwieldy thing, but tons of fun on the range. A short Saiga 20 with a drum in full auto is just as much fun and far more "practical".

Neither. Would be my original Mossberg 590. 20" lightweight barrel w/heat shield, 8+1, SpeedFeed +4 round stock, polychoke, sling.

870 ... with one of the following magazine end caps (because you have to keep your sense of humor while the world is ending)

You are right. We can keep consuming natural resources and third world countries can keep indiscriminately having kids and we can keep spending money that we don't have and the world will just keep trucking along as it always has. I mean, name one government or society that crumbled in a short period of time. I can't think of any.

Winchester 1897.

but there have been plenty of....oh.....i see what you did there...

you know, based on this thread, 2 people here intend on being criminals and looters, and I think that brings a bad light on gun owners in general....

You intend on "raiding" your LOCAL GUN STORE? What the heck man... the old guy behind the counter now has something you want.. so you are going to raid his store?

As a "local gun store" employee, I can only shake my head. How many of our customers plan on attacking us when the power goes out and they THINK its the end of the world?

How many people on this forum are scumbags and would be criminals?

THIS must is why SHTF threads are not allowed here, it brings out the evil in people.

I actually enjoy these type of threads but maybe a definition of terms is in order. When I hear SHTF, EOTWAWKI and such, what's really in my mind is, "If I HAD to grab a gun and go, out of all the ones I own which one would I choose as my basic weapon?" I'm somewhat of a minimalist by nature and I like the idea of narrowing things down.
