Out of this list I went with the S&W it is compact easy for me to use and reliable. What would you have chosen? Please take into account size, reliability, and ease of use. Just want to see what others would have chosen and why.

S&W M&P9c is on my short list. Small enough to be easily concealable IWB yet large enough for good capacity and shootability. Until I buy one my friend's is not safe! Glock 19 is a close runner up but it is a little tall for my liking.

Either the S&W M&P or the G19, both would work equally well.

That being said, I EDC a G22:)

I was in this dilemma when looking for a new CCW recently. Being poor and hating grip safeties, left me to decide between the M&P9 and the G19.

I was set on the M&P9 for several reasons but decided to try both at a range first. After shooting both I hated the M&P trigger. So, I went with the G19.

Based on 12 years' ownership of mine, I chose the Glock 19. An honorable mention should go to the S&W M&P; the one I had was 100% reliable. I didn't find it as comfortable to carry IWB due to its wide slide. I have no experience with Kimber 1911s, but my experience with a couple of others was not good (poor reliability). The Taurus is very bulky for concealed carry, with a fat grip and wide slide; the G19 holds the same number of rounds but is much more compact. In fact, as I've remarked a number of times, it is the most "size efficient" handgun around.

G19 or M&P. It is a matter of personal preference. I would go G19 because I'm very familiar with it.

Kimber seems to be having a lot of QC issues lately. Taurus has never impressed me. Full sized XD is a big muther'. I have an XDSC-9 I like it, but all the XDs seem chunky to me.

I voted for the Glock 19, but I would actually prefer the G23 in 40S&W.

S&W M&P compact would be my very close second choice also in 40S&W.

Why?

Caliber - Contrary to common notion of 9mm being more accurate than 40S&W, my 180gr TCFP practice loads consistently produce very small shot groups off hand when rapid fired. With capacity being similar, I prefer the terminal ballistics of 40S&W JHP over 9mm.

Pistol - I have shot both brand models and ran timed match stages in comparison to other pistol models in various calibers (I think around 35 pistols total to include 1911s, Berettas, CZs, HKs, Rugers, Sigs, etc.) and Glock models consistently gave me the fastest time with smallest double-tap groups. This was done when I was not a fan of Glocks and I was shooting 1911/Sig primarily.

Since then, I have done similar timed comparisons with newer models of pistols and I have yet to find another brand/models of pistol that can out shoot the Glock time/shot groups. I will admit that I have a lot more trigger time on the Glocks though.

I chose the M&P as close second because of improved ergonomics over Glock models. I like the grip better and controls are more accessible than Glocks. The metal magazines always drop free for fast mag changes and I can shoot lead reloads in standard land/groove rifled barrel for cheaper practice. M&Ps are one of few pistols with ambi slide release in case you have to release the slide with your left hand.

I would choose the Glock 19 with the M&P9c coming in at a close second! And that is coming from a fan of the M&Ps. I just happen to like Glocks too.

I would choose the Kimber Pro. If you are carrying something as big/heavy as all the choices, it might as well be a .45. The slim lines of the 1911 carry well in an IWB holster. After the 1911's it would be the Glock.

G19 or officers sized 1911. I am not familiar with all of Kimber's model designations nor do I care to be.

One more for the M&P9c, for the same reasons. If it had been the 26, instead of the 19, I might have gone that way though. Either would do.

+1 for the M&P9c. i actually just purchased a M&P40c, although i'm a big fan of the 9mm.

M&P9c has great ergos, great capacity, and the 9mm is a nifty round

fwiw, i'm totally "in bed" with S&W as a company though...

i have a kimber pro carry .45 & love it. it has become my favorite handgun. i liked it so much i went out & bought the 9mm pro carry version. the only problem i had was that it did not like the mag that came with it. i use novaks for the range & wilsons for carry, these work great.

The Glock 19 and M&P 9c are my choices. Id go with the M&P 9c for the comfort and feel of it for CCW but the Glock 19 is a great choice as well... Its just a little too block like and bigger than the 9c.

G19: Size, weight, accuracy, reliability, earned reputation, make it as good of a ccw pistol as you could ever use. My personal choice over the G19 is not on your list, the CZ 75D PCR. SIG P229 or P239 are other good choices. I would not put my faith in any of your other choices... just my opinion and experience with the pistols I have mentioned.

Glock 19. It's as simple and reliable as it gets. I like the 23 better, but all Glocks are simply semi-auto revolvers to me, point and click...

Ok, who picked the Taurus and why? Just want to know the reasons over the other choices. I mean the Taurus does have nice ergos but it is huge!

I would not put my faith in any of your other choices
I can see why some people don't care for Taurus and Kimber; but the M&P and XD? What are your bad experiences with the M&P and XD lines?

To explain why the choices are so limited, these are the handguns in my collection that I considered for my daily CCW. Here is my thought rationale behind each one, take into consideration that I currently own all of these guns and love them all so hopefully my opinion will seem unbiased.

Kimber TLE PRO- slim, short barrel, familiar with 1911s
Cons: not too good of a shot for me, low capacity, heavy

Kimber Tactical Custom- slim, accurate, familiar with 1911s
Cons: low capacity, slide length

Taurus PT92- higher capacity, accurate, carried the M9 at work
Cons: no night sights, grip width

S&W M&P9c- slimmer than G19, short barrel, reliable, accurate (after trigger job)
Cons: capacity

XD45- comfortable, higher capacity than the 1911s, reliable
Cons: grip length

G19- higher capacity than M&Pc, accurate, reliable
Cons: size
