New Glock 26 owner - what should I get with it?

Holsters are like underware, that's too personal to advise on. I like simple, leather IWB. Others like thunderware. Others have larger pockets than I and carry in a cargo pocket.

I'd keep it simple and just buy lots of ammo and maybe a cheap IWB holster if you plan on ccw. Cheap, like the high noon split decision. Once you evaluate that, you'll know more about what you want. FWIW, I'm torn between a Crossbreed SuperTuck and the comp-tac spartan for my next holster for my 19. Clear a space in a drawer for the accompanying pile of holster you'll end up with.

If you aren't going to ccw, just get lots of ammo and a blackhawk serpa.

I'm of the opinion that 2 magazines is enough. After those 2 mags are empty I take the time to rest my eyes and arms and load them back up. If I got to the range with 10 magazines already loaded my shooting would be over quickly. Of course belonging to a private range there is no hurry. But for you more time spent shooting rather than loading might be a good idea if you pay by the hour.

As far as holsters go.....All my handguns have a holster but they are rarely in them....especially at the range. I just set them on the bench or table.

I might be an oddball here but the less I spend on accessories the more I can spend on ammo or reloading components.

Shoot that Glock like crazy......mine are excellent weapons.

Glocks are holster critical IMHO. NO Eagle Serpas or anything else that could snag the trigger especially on reholstering. A "snap in " fit on a GOOD Kydex holster like a Comp Tac is a must on a Glock.

Night sights. Extra G-26 mags. A couple cases of ammo. A training class. A glock armorers book and maybe a 3.5 connector. I use a Don Hume IWB holster for my 19. It is enexpensive (I think it was $20-$25) and comfortable and can be found just about anywhere. Any standard kydex OWB holster and ammo pouch for the range is nice as well and can be had for $20-30 a piece.

For me pierce grip extensions are a must, the grip is just too fat to only get a two fingered grip on. The glock "sport" holster is a great and cheap holster for this gun. The glock mag pouches are pretty good to. I also recommend the dust plug, that little whole at the bottom annoys me and welcomes more lint into the slide. The holster I used, until I unfortunately traded my G26, was the blackhawk #5 IWB holster. Also, get the "glock armor's tool" its a must for taking the magazines apart, well that and a small flat head and c-clamp.

Exactly what good does that device do? I like the one that midway sells that doubles as a dust plug, I just don't care for a dust plug because the hole doesn't bother me.

But from what I see on internet pictures, it looks like nothing more than a glorified punch...which I keep in my range bag anyway. Does it serve any other purpose? The standard punch (or even an allen wrench) I keep in my bag or on my workbench allows me to completely reduce everything to a pile of parts (along with maybe a flat head screwdriver to release the mag release tension thing-a-ma-bobber). I've disassembled the mags, as well...just to peek inside out of curiosity. I haven't came close to wearing them out.

What's an Eagle Serpa? I know of the Blackhawk Serpa, but nothing with Eagle in the name.

If you were referring to the Blackhawk Serpa, I strongly disagree. I use Serpa holsters exclusively for all my pistols that accept them, including both my G19 and G17. They work flawlessly and are very useful in a wide variety of situations or carry styles.

I think the blackhawk serpas suck, at least for concealed carry.
for open carry they are decent.

Alessi makes some of the best holsters out there, they are a pleasure to deal with too, they take a while to make however.
Lots of people like the the glock sport holsters and they are cheep.

There is no better value in holsters than the factory Glock Sport/Combat holster. It fits any of the 9mm or .40 frames and only costs about $15. A matching mag carrier runs about $12.


You can carry your G26 with the factory 10 round mag and a 15 or 17 round mag as your spare.

Rather than a +1 or +2 extended floorplate I highly recommend the GAP floorplate instead. It will make your grip much more secure and does not increase the printability of your G26 like an extended floorplate would.

My advice is to keep it stock until you are used to it. Once used to it get a GAP floor plate for one magazine and a +2 magazine. Learn to shoot without the +2 or the finger extensions first. The GAP will help with the draw and add stability without printing. Carry with the GAP and use the +2 as a spare magazine. Buy an inexpensive holster knowing you are probably not going to stay with it long but it gives you a frame of reference. Don Hume is a good choice, I still use mine, I was lucky.

I use it to take apart all my guns and magazines. But, a skinny punch of any kind will do as well. I've found that the glock punch is less destructive to magazines and other finishes.

Oh, is the tool polymer? If so, I finally see the light.

I typically use a cheapo allen wrench set (with the rounded heads) for such that someone gave me. They are horrible for any use as a regular allen wrench. However, they have some sort of no slip coating that makes them handy for knocking out pins without marring the surrounding surface. If you use a slightly smaller than required punch, you won't mar the surface either.

Find a holster you like and buy lots of ammo. Spend lots of time at the range and take as many firearms defense courses from reputable instructors as possible.

The handle is, but the pin is not. Even so, it seems to be coated with something that keeps it from marring the surface.

+1 on night sights, and on the GAP floorplate, but I'd get one (they actually come in pairs) and install it to begin with.

If you want more than 10 rounds in a spare mag just get a G19 or G17 mag (15 or 17, respectively.) If you get in enough trouble to need more than your original 11 rounds you won't be worrying about the feel of the grip for your pinkie finger, although if you absolutely have to have a grip-size extension I think you can get sleeves for the longer mags that fill in the space between floorplate and the bottom of the mag well. Personally, I have more difficulty concealing a spare magazine than the gun itself, so I don't usually carry a spare. If 11 won't do it . . .

As for holsters, if you intend to carry IWB you will almost certainly be delighted with either an MTAC or SuperTuck, both of which are discussed and compared extensively on almost all handgun forums, including this one. (I have the MTAC, but largely because I had a CTAC before it and liked the belt clip and adjustment system.)

I keep my G27 in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. I keep the stock mag, no extension in the gun. Carries better in the pocket w/ the stock mag. In the weak side pocket, I carry a full sized G22 mag, also in a DeSantis pocket mag holster. That gives 26 easy rounds of 165 gr DoublTap GoldDots on tap, nicely accessable in my front pockets.

Whenever I wear trousers, (most days) this is my carry option.

The gun does have an extended slide release, Low-Mount Novak Trijicon night sights, stainless guide rod, pachmayer slip-on. Of all the mods, the pachmayer is probably the most beneficial.

Three things,
1. Night sights(order them with your Glock from Glock)
2. Plus two(actually only 1)baseplates for your magazines to enhance your grip, the 26 still conceals perfectly and it greatly improves your shooting.
3. Ammunition, many, many thousands of rounds...
Thats it, not another thing is required.

a good set of sights is the only thing that i would change on any factory glock(assuming that it comes with the white "cup" and dot, plastic sights.) Either a good set of three dot night sights, or another really good option is XS Big dot sights.

Holsters: Raven concealment.

Magazines: you could buy a glock 19 mag if you wanted the extra capacity for a reload if need be in defense. so your first mag would be the model 26 mag( you might need a Pearce grip extension which replaces the floor plate of the magazine, to allow your finger to not "hang off" the end of the grip. not a +2 extension (if you must get a +2 or more extension get the glock factory, the others work well enough for the range, but i wouldn't trust one to carry.)

I see the 26 and other SC guns as bug's, i wouldn't carry one as a primary means of defense unless, i had no other option available. However that is me and the way that I do things, everyone has their own opinions.
What you really need: lots of ammo, and to attend a training course, that will be worth more to you than any amount of accessories and " go fast" gear.

I, and a lot of other people think they are not very good and especially with Glocks.
I agree the cheap Glock holster is pretty good for what it is.
A Safariland 6000 series is a good duty type holster for the bigger Glocks.
For the G-26 I carried one for years in a Mad Dog Taylor Thunderbolt and found it to be ideal, but alas they are no longer made!
A plus 2 mag is nice and easier to shoot , I guess, but for true concealment smaller and lighter is better.
I would not put a lighter connector in a G-26,a bigger Glock maybe but not the mini which you will be carrying all day all the time.

I use a Serpa for my G19 for OWB concealed/open carry, and I also use a Serpa Level 3 light-bearing for my duty belt, and thigh rig. And another Serpa for my M9 when I'm doing Army nonsense, and yet another Serpa for my Walther P99 when I feel like carrying or just practicing with that. I love the Serpa concept as it is much more intuitive and conducive with a proper grip when drawing. Not to mention it's nice to have holsters for different weapons that all work and feel exactly the same, and can even be swapped between platforms.

Of course, I wouldn't recommended one for a G26 as it's really too small for that kind of carry. But for G19/17, I haven't found anything better.
