Hello all!!!!!!!!

I need some opinions on my next purchase. I have a Glock 19 and am planning on purchasing another Glock in a few weeks. I have been looking at the G26 (9mm) and G27 (40 cal). I have been leaning towards the 26 because it can share ammo with my 19 as well as take my 19's mags. But, since I do already have a 19 (9mm)...should I not pick up another 9mm (g26) and go for the glock 27?

Any help would be appreciated...Thanks in advance!!!

not a .40 fan, but honestly not a glock fan either, what is the reason for the even smaller gun?
but the 26 if you have to ask.

You will probably be happy with either :)

I personally like the G27/33 platform over the 26, because their slides allow a change between 9, 357 and 40 if I desire so. My G27 works fine in 9mm with just an aftermarket barrel and some G26 magazines. If I was going to carry it as a 9mm, I also have a trigger housing with the 9mm ejector and the 9mm extractor parts (about $30 total) that I would install. 357 is just a barrel away.

and ... I do like the .40

Regards,
Greg

First off.....thanks for the replies!!!

To answer the question of why I want an even smaller gun then my g19....all I can say is that I will own every glock at some point....but for now (money being tight) I am planning on picking up one more for the time being. I love my 19 but would like something a tad smaller for concealed carry and for the car. The 19 stays at home and goes to the range with me as well (of course)....I understand that the 26 with the extension actually becomes similar to the 19..but I would only be using the extension occasionally at the range. When I carry, it it will just have the standard mag......

Try shooting both and see what's best.

Personally, I have a G27 on order because I have a G35 & G23. Plus I love the .40S&W round! In addition, every cop in my city is issued a Glock 22. So if the .40S&W caliber is good for them, then it's good for me.

But if you do end up getting the G26, then you have to get the G17 and G34 (plus the rare G17L)...then you're done completing the set!

I made the exact choice you're after now. And it was a good one. I bought a 26 to backup my 19. Go with the 26, you won't regret it.

If I were to get another mini-Glock, it would be a 26 in the lighter-recoiling 9mm. I disliked the bark and bite of a 27 I had. It would also have commonality of caliber and magazines.

I've shot the 26, and it is quite smooth and nice. The 27 is a little firmer, given the caliber and all, but ...

since you mentioned that you'll want to own all the different models, which means all the calibers, then it might be more fun for you now to get the .40 simply because then you can start the caliber variation in your collection.

Sure, the 26 can take your 19's mags, but if you're going to want to use the 19 mags, use the 19. A 27 would give you that same concealment advatnage size as the 26, but it provides the fun of the .40. This, of course, doesn't work if you believe that the .40 is an abomination and you're enamored with the 9mm (I think I'm a 9-a-holic).

I would note that things that are abominations usually do lots of damage and are nasty and whatnot, you know, like in the movies.

Get the G26. You're downsizing the firearm as it is. If you upsize the cartridge with a G27, I suspect you will be doubly dissapointed at the change in handling due to a simultaneous decrease in firearm mass and increase in cartridge power. Nothing wrong with a 40, but nothing wrong with a 9 either.

I have to say that the main issue making it tough for me to decide is whether or not I want to switch it up and diversify my collection. I have no problem with 40 cal handguns, recoil has never been something that has bothered me whether it be compact or a sub. I think that I am just SO EXTREMELY SATISFIED with my 19 that Im craving the 26. On the flipside, it would be fun at the range to split the time between a 40 and a 9......decisions..decisions....

I am a huge fan of the .40 so I would say go with the 27 but since you have G19 I think the ability to share mags and ammo may be the deciding factor.

G26, its the perfect caliber for something the size, and the capacity is still good (great for its size). I really think its a great combination of concealability, shootability, and firepower...

I drank the kool-aid

I have a Glock 26 but then again I don't have any .40 caliber firearms. I prefer .38/.357, 9mm, .45, .44mag and see no need for that caliber in my collection.

I also have no interest in 357sig, 10mm.

I am thinking that I will purchase then 26..then the 17...then the 23..then 27....then the 36 and so on and so forth!!!!!!!!

I gotta say though that I really appreciate all of your opinions.....I didnt realize how long it takes me to make these decisions...When you love guns as much as we all do, you want to take your time and make the right choice.

also, i forgot to mention earlier in my post if you are going to get a .40 i would start full sized and get a good taste in your mouth for it. the first time i shot a .40 was in a little gun and the lack of ability to hit what i was aiming at due to sight radius and the fact it ate the shizzle out of my hand scarred me for the rest of my .40 experience. I think it is a good cal, but i just stick to the main two, 9mm and 45.

Stick with the 26. If you want a .40, you probably should start with a larger size gun. The first .40 I ever shot was a Sig 239in .40 and now I can't stand .40. Very snappy recoil in a smaller pistol. Also, with the 26, Your G19 mags work, and you don't get into the "stock up on all different calibers" thing. On top of all that, put a 33rd mag in your 26 when you come home at night, and you'll be ready for what ever goes bump in the night. :)

I have the G26 and G19. Love them both. I prefer to carry the 19 because of the longer grip. I've learned to dress around the size of the 19, so I've been carrying more lately. If you get a G26, get this e GAP floor plate for your mags from www.concealablecontrol.com. You'll love it.

+1 on PhillyGlocker's endorsement of the GAP floor plate. I have the GAP on my concealed carry G26 and think it is great. In addition to providing a more position grip without compromising concealability, the extension on the floor plate makes presentation from a low rider IWB holster much easier.
