I suppose I'm late asking this...but I bought an FN P9m on Gunbroker NIB for $409 last week (shipped). I think I got a decent price, but I have never shot the gun before. Since I like to shoot my 1911, and usually carry it, I am used to the safety, and consequently I like the FN P9 operation.

But what is your experience with the gun? Would love to hear from you - if I made a bad decision, I can turn around and sell. It just seems like a nice carry gun, not exactly compact but still easily concealable.

Stories, experiences, problems, no problems...?

My experience is that it is a really nice gun but not many holster choices out there. Gun always runs flawless with any ammo I used.

The M is a great little gun. You got a good deal. You see a lot more FNP9s then FNP9Ms.

I saw those too. The FNP line runs well. They DA is a little stiff but nothing that is not mangageable and controlable. SA can be a little mushy. They are great little guns and you got a great deal.

Had a 9M, great pistol, compare it to others like it and it really stands out, no-frills but everything about it is very well-executed and it is pretty trim for what it is. Small gun to fit 15+1, I love the sights, great grip, nothing to dislike about it.

Well the decocker is kind of cheap looking, and could stand to protrude a little less, but whatever.

Foulup on Gunbroker Purchase - Not a compact after all...

Got the gun today......it ain't what was advertised. Instead of the FNP9M, it is the FNP9.

Still, at $409 not a bad price, but not what was posted on GB so not what I bid on, and certainly not the gun I wanted.

I have emailed the seller (a gunshop in TN), hopefully they have an M version on the shelf. Of course, after I won the bid I ordered magazines and a holster, the holster will work but the mags won't work in a full size.

Dang. Tis been that kind of day today.....

Congrats!

My most recent buy was a FNP9.

I love it.

I mean I really love it.

Forget the M. Keep it. You can return the holster and mags.

It's the perfect size for a 9mm. DA/SA is smooth as silk. Lifetime warranty.

US made! and light!!!

I can't imagine going shorter grip and barrel on this gun. I am a XD SA purist but grabbed one of these on the cheap.....The XD's hang at home these days I am sorry to say...

Rellascout,

Have you had issues with a gunshop in TN?

Not at all. I saw the auctions on GB and was surprised to see the Ms in stock. I have always wanted one.

I have an FNP-9 SAO which I think is an awesome gun. Same trigger pull every time, no creep in the trigger, extremely accurate, and has been dead reliable.

Don't have a FNP-9M but I do have the FNP-9. An outstanding gun. My only real gripe with it is that I tended to hit the decocker when in use - I'm used to riding the thumb safety on my 1911s. I cut the left one off with a dremel tool and now I'm fine. I still have the other decocker and I figure if I need to decock the gun I can use two hands. I also trimmed down the magazine base (one mag) to match the grip size to make it easier (IMHO) to conceal. Personally, I don't see that the M buys you much over the regular. YMMV. Anyway, it's a great gun. Shoot the heck out of it and enjoy.

I have the FNP9 and love it . it's a great shooting gun. Both SA and DA feel good and it feels great in the hand. It has never had a problem when firing it .
For the price you can't go wrong.
I made my own drop leg holster for it and not that I needed to I made some back straps for it to.

+1 for Robertson Trading Post

Not at all. I saw the auctions on GB and was surprised to see the Ms in stock. I have always wanted one.
Well, I'll tell you about the issue with Robertson Trading Post:

They simply sent me the wrong gun.

Asked me what I wanted to do.

I said, "Send me the right one and cover all the shipping costs."

He said, "OK. And sorry for the inconvenience.":what:

I say (to him and to myself): "Thank you for being so willing to fix this, and we'll be talking again because I'll be buying from you again.":)

Which is all nice, because the outfit that hasn't even got my order ready to ship for mags will charge me 15% to cancel the order. Cool, won't shop there again. Afterward, I found that I would get the 9M, and could use the mags, but I still won't shop at that supplier again. 15% to cancel an order you haven't filled. GMAB!

And, I know the P9M isn't but a skosh smaller (about 1/2" length, 1 round less in mag), and I would have been happy with the P9 all said, but this has worked out well with the only drag being the wait and the additional transfer cost. But the dealer only charges me $20 for a transfer, so I'll up and have to buy some more stuff from him to balance the cheap transfer next week.:D

It isn't even a half inch shorter in length, it's like a fifth of an inch shorter, and the muzzle is flush with the forward face of the slide, so the slide might even be the same length. It's about the perfect size for a carry gun/service type pistol.

I picked up a 9M for my wife for our anniversary in 2008. I think I paid around $475 barely used with 10 magazines (the extra seven still in their boxes).

After my wife took it out to shoot it for the first time, I figured out why it was barely used - it malfunctioned an average of once every five rounds. I think the previous owner took it to the range once, had it hiccup a few times and decided to get rid of the thing.

Thing was, it mostly stopped having problems between 50 and 75 rounds and has run flawlessly since about 150 rounds. It's a good shooter and she's very happy with it.

The only problem it still has is that the LaserMax laser I bought her sticks out past the front of the dust cover and gets dirty really quickly from the muzzle blast.

Decided to keep the FN9. Not much diff betwixt it and the 9M, and it woulda cost dealer $80 or so to cover my shipment east and the FN9M back out here. Plus, in retrospect, I liked the safety/decocker on the 9, rather than decocker only.

Shooting saturday, excited.
