Using Nu-Finish in tumbler.

I let it run a minute or so then dump in brass.

You probably have a mess. I always run my tumbler 10 mins before I add the brass.

I tried what you just did once and had a cleaning chore on my hands. At least it was some 45 ACP and was easier to get the clumps of crud off them and out of them than if it had been say the 204 Ruger brass. I now run the tumbler for 8-10 minutes till the polish mixes in and drys out before adding my brass.

I add the polish to the media and work it in with my fingers until the large clumps are broken down. Then add the brass and run the tumbler. It's worked for me for 30 years.

I, have found that by slowly adding a small amount every time the miner clumping breaks up very quickly, even when there is brass in it.

You're doing it right.

I have been impatient at time before, and added .38 brass, and then the Nufinish. Out of 100 cases, 2-3 would end up with a sludgey clog in the case. Now I add the Nufinish, do some other reloading task, and then toss the brass in. (10+ Minutes.)

I don't dump, I drizzle a little at a time, and let it mix in real good. I don't like the clumping BS. NuFinish works great with 20/40 fine ground corncob for polishing clean brass. Don't expect it to clean dirty brass though.

I now use the Nu-Finish on my Truck. Don't need it when tumbling with Stainless steel media. It even cleans the inside and primer pockets.

Me too. I dont know where all this talk of it clumping into the cases is coming from. I guess if you let it stick to them and then immediately shut the tumbler off. I never tumble for less than two hours at a time. I add the new finish and within a minute or two add my brass. Never had a problem, not once.

Mine clumps up for a couple of minutes, but they break up. I have used it by letting the tumbler run for a 5-10 minutes before adding as well as adding brass just after drizzling it in there. I haven't really had an issue with it yet, but, I try to run the tumbler first. My tumbler is usually running for 2 hours or longer.

In my experience when I havent waited a little while, i end up cleaning media stuck to the inside of the cases. Thats just what I've dealt with. Others experiences may be different.

Another vote for lazy.

Just curious how much some of you are using? I use 1/2 cap full every batch. I drizzle it in and add brass after around 2 minutes. Never had clumping or any mess.

I use approx a teaspoon to start with and do not add any until the polishing starts to suffer.

I, fill about a half tumbler full of brass, then add the cobb, then about a teaspoon worth of Nufinsh.

I let the 1/2 capful run for about 10 mins before dumping in the brass. One clump in a piece of brass could be bad news.

You don't need to add it each time. I have seen it keep working for 3-5 full loads.

That happens when you put too much NuFinish to your media or the media is too dirty and needs to be replaced.

When you have the right amount of NuFinish added to walnut media, it should feel dry when you run your fingers through it. I use fine walnut media (24 grit) and cases are never plugged up. If you feel wetness/dampness or see media clumping inside the case, you have added too much polish and should take some out and add more new media to dry it out.

I see people posting that they add a capful of NuFinish with each tumbling of brass. For me, this is too much. I add a capful every 3-5 loads or as necessary. I tend to keep my media on the drier side and add NuFinish only when I see polishing time get extended. For indoor range brass, 20-30 minutes is all it takes to clean and shine up for me. 1 hour for dirtier or really shiny cases.

I didnt think about that either, I think that the size of the media could really make a difference with it, that and how much you put in. I drizzle about three capfuls into new media. When I "recharge" I put one capful, this is about every three or four loads of brass. I just drizzle it, then get my brass together and dump it in, maybe runs a minute or so before dumping in brass. I need to check and see what the coarseness of my media is though.

Yeah, I'm with those that dump it all in at once. If the media can't even clean off the polish, you're using too much polish.

I drizzle it in like adding a fine sauce to French Cuisine while the tumbler is running. If you get clumps in the brass you are dumping in too much. I have been running a huge lot of military 223 brass I got in from govliquidations that was stored in a roto-hopper outside in the rain; 5 pounds of 223 brass, 5 pounds of fine 24 grit walnut and a drizzle of about a tablespoon of Nufinish along with a couple torn up used dryer sheets to trap the dust, then set the timer for 12 hours. Gets it 98% clean and the ones with waterspots go back in the next load.

Got to hand it to Berry's Manufacturing- they make a tumbler that can take a beating- these two have been running virtually nonstop since Valentine's Day.

I add it to 4 or 5 cleaning patches and throw them at the same time I add the brass. Helps polish the brass and cuts down considerably on the amount of dust when emptying the tumbler. I replace the patches each time I add new brass. Also works with old Bounce sheets.

I use dryer sheets, but I use new ones usually, still works great. Help extend the life of media greatly.
