If you aren't very sure what you are shooting at then you shouldn't be shooting.

Like said, "Bigfoot" could very easily and most likely be someone in a ghillie suit. Not a good idea to shoot at anything that isn't clearly and obviously an animal.

Smart friend. I would have been tempted to do a little stalking, though. If nothing else, I'd be interested in what size boots Bigfoot was wearing.

Well...since Bigfoot doesn't exist...that seems to leave only the option that its a human or a bear. Or a tree.

If you have to ask this question I want your hunting license pulled. The probability of seeing bigfoot is zero and you want to know if you should shoot at something that looks like bigfoot? What if it was some crypto zoological freak at 1/3 of a mile and you killed it? You think you are going to get a reward?

Even if it's for real; it is a rare animal; and I would only take a shot if it was a threat to my life. If Sasquatch is just cruising across the valley and is no immediate threat to my life, let him be. Many serious predator hunters are utilizing ghillie suits these days.

I can't believe the obvious has not been addressed.

Since - regardless of the reason - it was not "bigfoot" season, he was right to not shoot. Imagine the legal ramifications were he to kill one without a tag.

Anyone remember the yaboos who shot at the sight of a Whitetail's white tail in New England back about '83. They hit and killed a woman wearing fuzzy mittens in her own back yard bordering a forest. The humor ends abruptly when something like that happens.

Im re-thinking using ghillie suits for coyote hunting now! That or you better be a better shot than me.

My brother had one die on his property in Washington state in Sept 1978 .....called the local sheriff and a Chinook landed ...wrapped it up in something like saran wrap....and flew off.
He was told to stay inside his house and not to come out until the sheriff told him he could leave.
He has a pic ....old 110 film of the Chinook landing from his House window.
He said he smelled it a mile offand his dogs would not go out that day...

Although, this one time while I was fishing I saw Bigfoot riding on the back of "Nessie" pulling the Abominable Snow on a wakeboard down the lake. That was pretty crazy!!!

If some knuckle head shoots me in the butt when I'm hooted up under a juniper in a ghille suit I'm gonna be really upset.

I seem to remember reading a four or five page article in either Outdoor Life or Field&Stream -it was in the 60`s-which seemed to make a case for bigfoot`s existence. The article cited evidence- foot prints, reports by local residents, huge piles of waste, etc. that seemed to support the argument, but IIRC, no clear photos were included.
What impressed me most strongly, was that the article concluded even if a hunter did actually see "Bigfoot" - shooting it , him, whatever you want to call it was a really BAD idea and could lead to a long prison sentance and a bad conscience.

Didn't some guys a few users back claim they killed Bigfoot and had some very realistic photos of it in a plastic or wood container. It was investigated and found out it was fake and the kids almost found themselves in a lawsuit.

If I had a small caliber so I wouldn't make too big of a hole in the pelt. I would make a nice rug out of him and me and my woman would make sweet love on it.

At 1/3 mile, it certainly isnt a threat. Let it go whatever it is.

Even if it was Bigfoot, he sure as heck is not in season and it is not like there are lots of them around..

Here in Alaska they are referred to as Nahh-in up around the Fort Yukon Area and Hairy Man down by the Galena area.
The old town of Portlock, and the nearby mining post of Chrome, Alaska which is about 35 air miles from my place, was abandoned in 1949 due to problems with something like Nahh-In or Hairy Man.

I wonder what Bigfoot taste like? Is there a Boone and Crocket score for it?
