The joys of having your own range

I HATE two second rules!!
Well stay tuned (or go subscribe to the channel) and we'll bring you more soon.

What else do you guys want to see?

Getting the guns and targets in frame is a little difficult sometimes, and we're not Hollywood directors HaHa.

Y'all want to see more guns, more discussion, more stuff being shot, what kind of stuff etc etc?

And you don't have to wait forever for slow people to change their targets before we can get back to more shooting.

This would be reason #2 for why I want my own private range.

I have managed to mark off 50 + 100, yard target areas 15 feet off ofmy back porch, I still haveanother 300 yards to my mountain back drop, I live on a small 91 acre piece of land in the mountains of TN. my next project will be building a proper shooting bench

I've got a 20 acre back yard. My wife doesn't always appreciate it but our back deck is my favorite shooting station (I encourage her shopping habit;)). You should be here at the Holidays when the Kids & GKids all come home, it's fun for all! (We start them shooting .22s bolt at 5 and haven't lost one yet!)

So cool that you get the kids involved.. Thumbs Up..!

Never heard of the two second rule before this thread. I agree though, that having your own range is amazing. I grew up with that privilege, but I don't have it anymore.

The only problem I have with my range is it is inhabited by animals that I would rather not shoot or bother.
In the summer and winter it is pileated woodpeckers that nest or trying to feed and last week it was a large bear wandered around my 200 yd range!
The deer don't seem to mind much but I do have fun when a flock of turkeys wanders through and I let off a round near them to watch them jump and scatter. Good Times.
I also like to think my shooting keeps the dope growing hippies who inhabit the rustic 20's on my backside at bay and on their own property. One can hope.

I know right, and how many ranges can you actually shoot anything other than paper targets..

Nothing like shooting on private property. I met a guy on another forum that has some land not too far from my house. Have spent many hours shooting over there.

There are some rules... No shooting until noon on Sunday. (Church across the street) And no target remains left in the field. (Not good for the cows.)

I can live with that!

And you do need some tannerite. Fun stuff.

Well yeah, you got to clean up the brass and the usual stuff.

So there are obvioulsy rules, but certainly a lot more fun.

I grew up on a farm, cattel operation. There were a number of areas where I could shoot a mile but I used a hill as a back stop and had 100,200,and 300 yards marked off . I set a bench rest about 10 yards from the building where I reloaded ammo but the pile of dirt used a back stop was about 110 yards away. I live in town now and miss the handy outdoor place to shoot. But I set up a portable benchrest in my den and a pellet trap in the storage room so I have a 10 meter range for shooting my 17, 20, and 22 caliber pellet rifles.

Not a rat a tat tat shooter, more of a precision rifle user though I own several AR's. I have a few acres with my own shooting facility on it. 700 yard range out of the reloading room. Can shoot from indoors or out, rain or shine, day or night with lighted 100 and 300 yard berms. Mostly LR rifle but do have a couple of automatic traps for clay target shooting, 15 and 30 yard steel swingers for handgun and rimfire. Shop set up for building my own rifles and working on them. I am truly blessed to have this and do bring youth groups/parents out to experience shooting of all kinds, from .22rf to a 50BMG and everything between.

These are all youth shooters experiencing shooting for the first time. (Some of these pics were staged and some not hence the lack PPE.)

The smiles from loading their own ammunition and getting great results the first time out!

You fellows need some good hollow points...

You don't even need good hollowpoints. .223 and 7.62x39 Bear HP makes pumpkin destruction very satisfyingly "splattery".
