which is a better deal in this gun trade?

In the current market they are both about even. I would take the 1911 though because once this "panic" is over it will be worth more. (and it looks much nicer )

$500 + $400 = more than $700.

The glock makes out to be a better trade, by the dollars and cents.

In today's market, the Glock will sell quickly, and probably net you more cash.

First off, the one you link to is not a stainless model.
Second, it is not the Crimson model, which comes with a nice Crimson Trace on it.

Flawed conclusion due to flawed data.

The Kimber is $1200+ MSRP. Maybe $1000 as it sits.

My mistake in linking the wrong gun, However, you are still overvaluing the Kimber.
The Kimber SS pro carry II crimson is still a $700 gun used, since If I look I'm sure I can get it BNIB for $900.

The Glock is STILL a $500 gun used.
A used $500 glock, 2 $50/each Hi-Cap mags, and $400 cash is STILL a better deal right now than a used $700 Kimber, and right around the same as a NIB Kimber.
I also feel Kimber's are grossly overrated and overpriced, so I'm a bit biased.

Do you want something worth money now (i.e. to flip) or something that will be worth money in 6 months? Kimber should hold its value better in the long run. I know I'm not paying $500 for a used Glock 19 even with night sights...

You will pay that much if you want one. Sounds like you don't want one, but plenty of people are paying that much to have one right now, even used. Glock 19's are very popular.

I'd argue that a glock 19 with two high capacity magazines won't hold its value as well or better than a Kimber pro carry II.
Kimber is starting to lose market share in the middle tier 1911 market, and has no "collectors value". Used Kimbers will not be rising in price anytime soon.
Neither does Glock, but Glock has done very well at making themselves a household name.
All in all, with how things are looking, younger crowds in the market, I see more of a demand in the future for "high capacity" Glocks than I do Kimbers.

I traded in both of my glocks. One towards a pristine Colt MarkIII. The other towards a new Kimber custom crimson. I appreciate glocks, but dont like them FOR ME. I love Kimber.

Last I saw, new crimsons were selling for around $1200. Figure used, $900-$1000 pre-panic. Dollar wise, the trade seems fair.

A 4 month interval is a reasonable period of time to compare market values....but I presume you are speaking of banic buying affecting the market...

Well, OK then, lets look at what Glocks are going for right now, in this banic market....15 round, high capacity glocks......

Well what do you know....I was at least a hundred $ low on the glock. But then again I was listing each at pre banic prices, since we are talking about post banic value. The 8-round kimber is not going to see a rise in value over msrp due to banic buying and unavailability like the Glock does right now.
The current market price on the glock, plus $400 cash, plus 2 high capacity magazines at $40 each or so at current market price is a higher value than the Kimber at $900.

Oh whoops, I was wrong again. You can get a NIB SS pro carry II without the crimson grips for $860. Add $200 for the grips and your new Kimber still only about equals the value of the used Glock, and once you shoot that Kimber it won't be worth $1000 anymore, imo.

Since the used Glock + $400 = a BNIB Kimber, the used Glock and cash is still a better value than the used Kimber at this point in time, IMO. If the banic weren't a factor, I'd agree and say that generally, the glock 19 at $350-$400 value + $400 cash would be a hair less of a deal than the kimber...but you can't find a glock ANYTHING right now for $400.
