Is CFE THE "perfect" powder?

I've been wanting to try it in my 22-250, looks like it beats H380 all of the way around, but I've never found any.

I have been happy with CFE223 in 204 Ruger but not in 17 Remington.

I have not tried it in any other cartridge yet.

Maybe. But Varget is also good for 223 and 308 and is known for excellent accuracy. I might even use it for 30 06 one day.

CFE223 may provide the highest velocities in certain applications. But it's not some magic pixie dust that gives the best result in every instance. It's also one of Hodgdon's more expensive powders, and you typically have to use more of it to get any gain in performance over other powders. So, yes, it may work best for your particular bullet/rifle combination, but it will likely cost more per round to get the highest velocities.

Like most other things in life, there are compromises.

CCI 450 small rifle magnum primer will not set off 40 gr of CFE in a 260 with 120 gr Nos Bal tip.

It is not easy to light.

But it makes up for that in keeping the bore clean.

I've tried it in a 223 and so far accuracy wise it hasn't performed as well or any better than other powders I've tried. I still have to try it with some different bullets though.

Vihtavuori makes the best powders. The other are "ghetto" if you ask me.

I'm using it for this year's dog shoot in my 223 Savage. Accuracy has been best with the 60gr V-Max at about 3200fps. As best I can tell the claims about copper fouling all but going away seem to be true. I'll know for sure after this trip.

I have not had good luck with it in my 308 with 165grain bullets. I am going to load some up in 223 and see how it does.

CFE has nothing more to offer than Ramshot Tac as far as I know for a premium price.
I was told Tac has the cleaning ingredients already but they did not advertize it like CFE. Am I wrong?
