A man in Wilkesboro, N.C. was engaged in a spirited discussion about gun rights when his gun went off Tuesday.

The man has not been identified because, rather than stay and make a stand in favor of his right to bear arms, he hightailed it out of there.

The incident happened in a GNC nutrition store on Winkler Street in Wilkesboro sometime around 6:50 pm in the evening. The customer was talking to an employee of the store at the time.

Right in the middle of the Constitutional conversation, the customer whipped out a handgun. And then, apparently by accident, he shot a printer.

That was pretty much it for the discussion. The customer declared that he “could not go down for this.” So he fled.

Police are looking for the accidental gunman and self-styled Constitutional scholar. He is described to be a white male, of about 28 or younger with brown hair, and brown eyes. He is 5’8″ and weights approximately 170 pounds. He fled the GNC in a dark-colored Honda Civic that appeared about 10 years old.

No one was hurt in the incident. Except the printer

guys... come on

really.

I know I shouldn't because this makes all gun rights activists and CCWs look like buffoons but I had to laugh at this. Seems like the scene out of a bad movie.

Way to represent us in a positive light.:uhoh::scrutiny:

Remember that we are not only embassadors for ourselves, but we represent the group on a whole. So if you have NRA stickers on your cars, drive courteously, and if you wear gun related clothing, act accordingly etc...
When people see you they will think that this is "how gun owners behave."

Please represent us well everyone. And yes, I know that saying that to members of THR is probably preaching to the choir, and you guys and gals are generally the best around.

So when an anti uses this incident to portray all gun owners negatively, agree with them, just like all Christians are just like the Westboro Baptists, all Muslims are radical jihad lists, etc. One idiot does not represent the entire group to which they belong.

IMO, there is no reason to debate an "anti" 1 on 1 anyway.

There are more judicious ways to spend your time, like sorting grains of sand by size.

 That gun had no business being removed from the holster.

No business at all.
Yes and having a round in the chamber is not needed. Why someone feels the need for that in everyday goings on is beyond me. What is so hard in racking the slide in the one in a million times you might need the gun? If it cant be done use a revolver

ND or not, whipping out your pistol while involved in an argument with an anti doesn't really help the cause of responsible gun ownership.:banghead:

The best possible course of action.

You will not likely change the point of view of an "anti"

If you are educating the uninformed, maybe. The better way to educate the uninformed is to take him/her shooting, but in a more appropriate venue than GNC, and maybe a different target?

It used to be that when the press used the terms "spirited discussion," "spirited debate," etc., it was code for the parties being drunk. Maybe that was the case here?

The local reports don't indicate the GNC employee was an anti, but the guy is an embarrassment to all of us.
A witness told police he was speaking to a customer and they were discussing second amendment rights and guns around 6:50 p.m. The customer then pulled out his handgun and accidentally fired a shot, striking a printer, the witness said.

A store employee told Wilkesboro police he and a customer were discussing guns and the Second Amendment when the customer pulled out a handgun to show him. The gun accidentally discharged, and the shot went through a printer, the employee told police.

A lot of truth there, life is too short to waste it on conversations with folks who probably will never really get it.

The man has not been identified because, ......., he hightailed it out of there.

Although not condoning the action, that's the funny part, he ain't completely stupid.

I'm not sure why this was allowed to be posted. I have seen many other posts similar to this locked before there were two or three responses. If this place is the High Road I would hope the membership would not be this stupid so I did not understand the comment "Guys... come on" so why would a moderator make such a comment?

As I have stated before, this road is evidently not too high...... :banghead:
