10mm club

I have some 165 gr. JHP's coming in. Going to be loading me up some 10's with the AA No.9. Anyone else load with the AA No. 9? So far I only went up to 14 gr. with the 165 gr. RMR Plated bullets. Trying to figure where to start with the jacketed I have coming in.

It's been posted around here before. But, since this is the "10mm Club" -

It's a custom built Commander length 1911.

- Springfield 1911 frame
- STI .400 Commander length slide
- Bar-Sto ramped barrel. Frame milled to fit by Bar-Sto
- Barrel bushing custom fit by Bar-Sto
- Ed Brown bobtail mainspring housing
- STI grip safety
- Cylinder & Slide Tactical Match 4.5 lb disconnector, sear and hammer
- Cylinder & Slide firing pin for 9mm, .40S&W
- STI trigger
- 10-8 Slide stop for 9mm
- EGW flat firing pin stop
- 22# recoil spring
- Dawson Precision full length guide rod and bushing. One piece stainless steel.
- Novak bar/dot night sights
- Ambi slide safety
- Larry Davidson Gyro-Spiral grip panels (sans 'Spiral')
- Tripp Cobra 9 rnd magazines

I carry it in a Brigade M-11 IWB holster.






For me, where I roam, a 1911+10mm is the perfect carry platform.

Chrono data for Underwood ammo from this gun:

180gr XTP : 1271, 1265, 1269, 1299, 1253 : avg 1271 ft/s 645 ft-lb
200gr XTP : 1181, 1187, 1199, 1183, 1167 : avg 1183 ft/s 620 ft-lb
220gr HC : 1152, 1153, 1165, 1156, 1161 : avg 1157 ft/s 653 ft-lb

I have used Sarge's grips, yours look very nice also, perhaps a pair is in order soon, fine looking guns. The grips really make them pop.

Have a G20SF with 4.6" Lonewolf and 6" KKM barrels. Coming soon is a custom tactical commander built by Fusion, this has been a long process and it will be put to use when it arrives.

Rock Island 1911 Tactical VZ II. cerakoted with pachmayer grips. the grips have since been switched to hogues.

I am new to the 10mm also. Bought a G29 and love it so i had to get a 20. Not a big Glock fan but love these guns. I have big hands and they fit my hands well. Back to your reloading question about aa9. i have worked up to 13.5 gr with 180 gr hollow point from RMR. I have Lone Wolf barrels in both guns and they show no sines of over pressure. No smiley at all. Underwood 180gr xtp show slight smile.( small enough i can re-size them and they will chamber fine) i just dont trust them enough to reload.

That is one unique color scheme you have there

Accurate Powders suggests 13.5-15.0 gr AA#9 for the Sierra 165gr JHP 1.250" OAL. they give a range of 1180-1341 fps.
haven't actually used AA#9, I have used AA#7 for light loads, & Blue Dot for my business loads. good luck!

I've experimented with AA #9, but prefer to load with Longshot and IMR 800X. Google Mike McNett (Double Tap) for his Longshot data, it's stout.

Those grips are quite nice. What type of wood are the top two?

Thanks guys. I don't mind taking it slow. Shot some more with the 14.0 gr. today. Shoots real nice if not looking for Nu-kular. I haven't seen 800X around here in a while. I could make the rounds again I 'spose.

I think I like 165 gr. better than the 180's in general.

ive owned a few 10mms in my time but the two that I still have are the G20 and G29.

a non-locked S&W 610 would be nice if I had the money to match it's astronomical price.
