i am going to sell my 9mm beretta 92fs. and get something more accurate for target shooting, was thinking of a cz75b or i have a chance to pick up a used gen 3 glock 17 at a steal, and put an aftermarket 6" barrel on it, any thoughts on which would be a more accurate target shooter

The Beretta 92FS is the most accurate gun.

I like my Beretta but after checking it out and recently purchased a new Glock 17 gen 4, after i installed a new Evo Elite trigger bar in it and also i notice on the 92fs there is some barrel slop mainly up and down and the trigger is hard compared to the glock or my Ruger SR9C

I'm with BSA1. My 92Fs is extremely accurate. Not sure why you have an issue with it. I do have a CZ SP01 that is also very accurate.

Get a target gun, like the long slide Glock 9mm. They are used for target shooting a lot, I think it's the 34 and 35, one is 40cal the other is 9mm. I see many company's coming out with long slide and long barrel entries now. Even Kahr has a new one coming our with a long compensated barrel and better trigger, there is a lot going on in that theatre. I would put a nice red dot on it also, "if you have spare cash".

Unless you're after a more formal target-type gun, check out a Smith & Wesson M&P Pro series "CORE" pistol.

One factory model has a 5-inch barrel, and you have some extended sight options with it.

I'd keep the 92. But if I really wanted to ditch it, I'd get the CZ, but only because I don't like GLOCKS.

Another one you may want to consider is a XDm 5.25. They get good reviews.

Oh yeah, the FNS9 long slide is supposedly a good gun too, and isn't that expensive.

You may have a dog of a Beretta 92FS, but neither the CZ or the G17 have a better reputation for accuracy than the Beretta. Maybe just as good, but not better.

...i have a chance to pick up a used gen 3 glock 17 at a steal, and put an aftermarket 6" barrel on it...
You may want to cruise through this thread on barrel length and accuracy. http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=771963

and this article http://dailycaller.com/2014/06/02/massad-ayoob-are-long-barreled-handguns-more-accurate/

CZ and Glock are in about the same category as the 92 in terms of accuracy if you ask me. In order to step it up a notch I think you gotta go with something more dedicated to range use, rather than duty use. Something with a single action only trigger. The Witness Match Elite is on my personal radar.

I'm not a fan of the Beretta 92FS but not because of it's accuracy, I think it's just too big and heavy for what it is. When shooters complain about the Beretta 92FS I don't ever remember lack of accuracy being one of the complaints.

If you are looking for a target 9mm take a look at the Sig P210 Target or Super Target. If that's too costly (and they are) I would look at a Browning Hi-Power.

Chetc, if you have not already done so, you may wish to try installing a Beretta 92 series factory "D" hammer spring. It is the lighter hammer spring used on the older Beretta DAO pistols and is about 4-5 lbs. lighter than the standard 20-22 lb hammer spring used in the DA/SA 92/96FS pistols. This simple swap makes a very noticeable difference in the trigger pull, and quite possibly overall accuracy you are having with your Beretta.

Aside from that, other 9mm pistols I have had good luck with as far as overall accuracy is concerned, are my West German Sig P-226 and my Sig SP2022. I recently had the opportunity to shoot a friend's Springfield Armory XDM-9 with a 4.5" barrel as well as his Kimber 9mm 1911 (do not recall which specific model) and was very pleased with how well both of these handled as well. As others have already mentioned, the Beretta 92FS typically does pretty well regarding accuracy and all three I currently own have been very good.

I think you might have the most accurate pistol already. I would hang on to the Beretta if possible. It is one of those type guns that are good in a collection.

I highly recommend a 9mm 1911, such as this Dan Wesson Pontman Nine

Never owned a Beretta. If I had the money, I'd buy a 1911 in 9mm. Nothing has been developed in all of firearm history that's better than a 1911. Too many people, IMO, have fallen into the devouring realm of polymer striker fired pistols. (I'm one.) I qualify with an SR9 and it never lets me down, but "real" autos are built as a 1911. I'd probably croak if I was ever able to buy an EMP. Buy steel, or at least aluminum. Are you aware that Glocks have plastic sights, like a pellet gun?

If you want a pistol that is more accurate than the 92fs I would attend some target matches. I would see what the majority of bullseye shooters are using. I can make book on one thing, an SD pistol or a pistol for run and gun games is not going to be as accurate as a real match winning target pistol. I went to a Navy steel championship back in the day. Those guys were shooting steels at ranges I would have a hard time hitting the steels with a rifle without any support at all. In the 70's they used revolvers. Semi autos have taken the lead now days.

S&W 929

The S&W 929 has a long 6.5" barrel, a long sight radius and a pretty nice single action trigger.

I love it for target shooting :)

The CZ is a great gun, I have both the 75BD and the 75D PCR and carry them both. However for the range you can't beat a tuned 1911. Nothing like a 3lb SA trigger.
There is also a CZ 75B SA that you might like.

For a 9mm. primarily set-up for target shooting I would go with a CZ 75 B SA or an STI Spartan V. In the "Money is no object" category you could go with a SIG P210 Legend or Legend Target, a CZ SP-01 Shadow Target II, a Dan Wesson Pointman Nine, an STI The Range Master or The Target Master.

You learned nothing from your previous thread, that is virtually the same question, a couple days ago??????

I can only relate my experience that is after many 9mm's I found the CZ75b the most accurate stock gun.
