"They were afraid that their power and/or their existence would be challenged. Best believe if the libs had a majority in congress, this would not have happened. Either way, good news, for now... like TomJ said."

^ This...

And can we agree yet that not voting them in, instead of fighting them for years after the election is the best policy...even here.

so basically, Obama just sold a hundred million extra rounds of ammo this month.

He wanted to make sure he won Guns and Ammo Salesmen of the Year award for 2015 for a record eight times in a row. That has to be an impressive wall. 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, ???

Well come it won't stop me from writing a rather blistering letter about the attempt to overthrow federal law. You have to stand somewhere.

Great, now if only people got this riled up over the illegal firearm registration by mass copying dealer 4473's, but gotta have our priorities...

Couple threads on this here and this is by no means any sort of victory. This is only them backing down until the time is ripe for them to gain the momentum to issue such a rule with minimal outcry due to some crisis or such.:banghead: We have to keep the pressure on!

call me a skeptic or a naysayer, but all i see potentially happening is them waiting until no one is looking routine.......

really all the article said is they will wait until all the comments are reviewed and then make a decision, for the most part. i don't see this as a victory, rather more of a....... yeah we heard ya...when you are distracted then we'll do what we want. cause they know we have short attention spans. we shall see though...i sure hope i am completely wrong on this.......

Wow... Price gougers had a field day with this one. Over the weekend m855 was $.60/rd WHOLESALE!!! Prior to that a decent deal was .$35/rd shipped. Now that anyone who wanted it paid through the nose, I expect prices to fall off a cliff with demand nonexistent. Mean reversion -- yeah baby! Now imagine a scenario where lake city is churning out the new m855a1 (which is even cheaper than 855) and there will be an even bigger glut of cheap ammo

Actually town hall.org has more detailed verbatim... It sounds like its dead at this time.

What sort of tin-foilery is this? Our government would never...

Just kidding. I agree 100%, and next time there will be no public comments section.

Ain't nobody got time for that!

Peanut Gallery recourse is for the little people comrade.

I think it came down to this, several Republicans threatening withholding funding to the ATF over this. And the ATF isn't exactly the most popular Federal agency anyway. Even Lefty drunks hate them. :D The reality is if there would have been a shutdown over this one, the politics whould have been on the GOP's side unlike the DHS showdown.

And now the peeps can resume their mass panic buying spree of .22 lr now that they don't have to rush to the store to get that last box of M855. Funny thing unlike the M855, 22 lr was never in danger of being banned.

Last week I went to Walmart to get .55 grain .223 Perfecta ammo because I was actually going shooting in a couple days. Some guy next me was eyeing Federal 62 grain and asked the clerk "is that the green tip"? if so I want it. He didn't even know what he was looking at he probably doesn't even have a rifle that shoots it but all he knew was it was being banned so he wanted it.

Of course they WANT to continue, and we should always be vigilant.

However, I think this loss of momentum is a really big deal. They really thought they could slip this in and not get any media coverage on it at all, because they regard us as insignificant. When it became a big news story, they began to question the benefit versus the fallout. The presidential candidates are about to announce, and they don't want any more controversy following them around. Through the election season, they don't want billboards about who is trying to take your ammo away. If they were going to do it, regardless of public opinion, why pause now? Why not just do it and have it done?

It's sad to read some of these comments. It's clear quite a few people here have little hope in their lives -- at least when it comes to firearms and related supplies.

Hope is an extremely important virtue for all to have. Hope is not about being naive or ignorant. Hope is one of the prime virtues that allow the continuance of fitting the good fight.

I wish more Pro-2A individuals would do what it takes to bring/build more hope into their lives.

Yep! Just like the elderly person who bought a few boxes of .505 Gibbs because it was the only thing on the shelf during a shortage years ago...

They'll just set it on the back burner for now until everyone's attention is on the next Obama spectacle and then they'll quietly attach it to some other bill and railroad it through. That's how they do things in D.C.

Well done all!

We beat them back for now.

Note how they make a point to announce that they plan to “make public” our comments.
As if publishing our names will SHAME us for objecting to their attempt to ban common, and affordable, centerfire rifle ammunition, and which has been for sale far-and-wide for more than a decade.

If they don’t like what I had to say, I’ve got news for them. I’m just getting started.
I hope they print my name in:
