Your opinions on the G3 platform and rifles

Dear DVD, I have both the PTR and the Springfield SAR8. I find there is no significant difference between them. I think they both compare very favorably to the HK product. High water and Low rise bridge, let the flogging begin, for I have disrespected the uber-rifle maker, HK. :-/

    Sig Sauer 556xi: First Impressions

I enjoy reading the posts on the Sig rifle. I do not own a Sig product at this time. I have to say I have been mystified by what appears to be a less than stellar product that Sig has put on the market with the 556? Sig has such a great reputation for their military arms, how did that not...

AK Magazines-30 or 40 rounders and why?

If you look at it strictly from a cash standpoint, the 30s are a WAY better deal than the 40s. You can buy 30s all day long at under $20.00. 40s start running at the $50 mark (for military surplus) and go up from there. I do believe that there are now some American made 40 rounders for the AK...

    Rear trunnion on pistol AK

CAI makes an Arm Brace adaptation (waiting for the Sig lawsuit) that requires no drilling or modifying of the rear trunnion. It goes under the pistol grip in the same fashion as the single point sling adaptors. That seems like the right way to go. If CAI stops selling them or the whole thing is...

Now it is official: shouldering a pistol does not make it an SBR

Lilguy, you really can't. But you can use a sling to press forward and generate more stability with a positive forward force. The AR-15 is the only rifle/pistol platform (that I am aware of) that requires the lower receiver buffer tube, due to the action design. That means there is a protrusion...

    Arm brace question

I have always wondered why it was illegal to have a second vertical grip on a so called "assault pistol" or otherwise? To my mind, one of the earliest style pistol made from a rifle design was the M1 carbine "Enforcer". You are allowed to hold that pistol with two hands as there is enough...

    Movers

From across the water I have lived in Florida all my life. I remember the good ole days (hey, I am only 52!) when hardware stores sold all sorts of guns, including the 70s when I was coming of age and just learning what "assault rifles " were. You may not have found an AR-15 in a hardware store...

    PTR GI VS FAL Imbel

Both are good choices. Check your ancillary items to see what you might like to add on. Mags, and their prices, scope mounts, or bipods. They all help contribute to your use and comfort. I have always felt from an ergonomic standpoint, the FAL is superior. Bit more of a finely crafted arm...

    What happend to MSAR?

It is too bad. Rumors and other issues have circulated for a while now. I have one 556 and would consider another, except they seem a bit of a gamble. Even though the AR-180 hasn't been made in years, I consider them much less of a "gamble" because they hold up well and have no real issues...

    Sig 556 worth the $$$$???

If you wanted an rifle actually BUILT in 2011, this won't fit the bill, but the Daewoo 100 or Max II (pre-ban style) is an excellent rifle, with AK gas system and AR bolt and magazine design. If I was doing the same thing (buying for my boy), I would go Ruger SR unless you just can't swing...

    Noticed less Hipoint hate/bashing

I took one out one night for kicks. A buddy dared me. I waited until it was dark so my friends wouldn't see me leaving the house with her. We didn't go to any of the local hot spots where all my friends hang out. Just a nice dark field out in the country with a case of beer. I tell ya, she got...

    M-1 Paratrooper Carbine

Ari, Probabaly best you past, but if it is a folding stock, and an Itilain reproduction, they are quite nice and as pointed out, if in almost new shape, worth about $200. I had a used one I sold last year for $150.00. The stocks that we are referring to are exact replicas of the WWII USGI...

Is shooting a bull pup rifle uncomfortable?

I have an MSAR and love it! No discomfort at all, and never noticed a headache develop from shooting it. Of course, I have never shot it without hearing protection. That, and I am completely deaf in my right ear. :-)

14.5 Barrel and brake combo question.

Snowy, I realize this is an old thread now, but in hopes someone checks back in on this subject...... Do the barrel extensions NOT come into play on AR's in that total length measurement? They pretty much seem like a permanent part of the barrel to me? Thanks AmEng

    .30-06 semi-auto? Any ideas?

Garand mag conversion Yeah, I was about to chime in go the FN49 route, but the 30.06s can be hard to find AND pricey! I think the Crawford County Conversion is just the ticket! Get a Garand (if you don't already have one) for less than a grand, and add their kit which looks to be well less than...
