Berrys Double Struck Thick plated 240 grain HP 44 Magnum #00208

Well I have around 400 of these and I want to make use of them. Since they are thick plated and double struck AND I have a couple pounds of 800X sitting around I married the two with 13 grains powder for what I thought would be a moderate load. I do not have a chrono. This was a complete...

    Best (non impact) bullet puller?

Off by one grain? I guess they are consistently off by one grain each? Why not shoot them? Regardless, you should have a decent bullet puller anyway. I have the Lyman inertia too. Im usually hitting the cement garage floor, but a block of wood would do nicely.

New horse in the stable Marlin 1894s 44 mag

Stopped by my favorite LGS as they were unpacking a shipment of police confiscations today. Included in this batch was a nice old Browning A5, Winchester 1100, several other long guns, but a lever action rifle with the Marlin bulls eye inlay caught my eye. Turned out to be 44 mag with a JM...

Sheridan C series blue\silver streak broken pin

I have an old Sheridan. Was shooting it this evening and noticed a broken pin needs replacing. Any idea where I might find one? This pin holds the pump to the frame where it pivots and is noted as part #2 on the diagram I pulled in the web. See lots of piston repair kits but I just need this pin.

Why am I having these primer ignition issues?

Two things, , , 1) I did not see if the OP answered the question, "Did they go off once you rechambered the unfired round and pulled the trigger a second time?" if so, then not seated deep enough and the primers in the picture look a little high to me. What do they look like prior to a...

    Need a starting point 30-06

You are right, Orcon. I am looking at Hornady #9. Looks like they boosted the range in your #10. Interesting.

    Suggested charge for .44 Magnum.

If you want to push more power, maybe a copper clad bullet is better? I dont know, just saying. Watch for leading if you push the power/velocity.

    Need a starting point 30-06

You mean for something like a Remington 750 Woodsmaster? Im looking at the Hornady manual as I type and it matches what LoonWulf is stating. I dont see what Orcon is looking at, the manual redlines with Varget and a 165 grain SST at 49.4 grains 2800 fps for 30-06 data. He mentions .308 and...

    What powder is this?

Reloader Fred is spot on. Bulk powders and possibly a blend of powders and definitely proprietary. To seriously consider a guess is not a good idea IMO. Kind of fun I suppose to speculate, but that is all you will accomplish. I once tried it with a bulk pistol powder several years ago. My...

First Turkey hunt which gun/ammo combo?

My first turkey season. I have two seperate offers from seasoned hunters to take me on hunts. I think I will do both hunts. I have three shotguns in my stable suitable for turkey with ammo. First up is a 870 Wingmaster 20 GA 3 inch chamber fixed modified choke. Ammo would be 3 inch...

2 new .410 lever actions from Henry

Yeah but did you see the weight? Typical hefty Henry style. Well north of seven pounds empty could be cumbersome for a youth squirrel woods shotgun.

Mossberg 500 w/ rifle sights question

I have one of these barrels. Mine has a wide blade front sight. The attachment is hidden by the wide base but I can tell for sure it is not dovetailed. The rear sight is dovetailed making it adjustable for windage by tapping and for elevation with a locking screw. Mine is smooth bore and...

Barrel for cast 9mm? Any to stay away from

When you make popcorn, do you shake the pot or the stove? Does a dog wag or does he wag his tail? Please say something if I am wrong, but dont you get the barrel you want, then size your cast bullets to fit that barrel? Isnt one barrel slightly different than another even from the same...

    bullet length and weight variance

BTW, bullet length should not affect COAL should it? One bullet longer than the other should simply be seated deeper and the COAL be the same? Unless that is ~ your die seating stem is touching bullets in different places as it pushes them down I suppose. . . Your die is locked down tight?

    bullet length and weight variance

If you could slice some open, you might also notice variance in the copper cup used as the bullet jacket. This will affect the bullet center of gravity which has an affect on flight path accuracy. If you have the Hornady reloading manual 9th edition, read their essay on "Firing a Cartridge"...
