I couldn't agree with you more. I recently had a conversation on this issue with another member of my church, and we both came to the conclusion that the potential loss of a wallet or a vehicle could not justify the taking of life. If someone wants to rob you of your cash, make sure they get...
(The following rant was written rather quickly as I was pressed for time. There are probably errors and also certain ideas that will need further clarification. This is merely my view on the issue of self-defense based on My Life So Far, and like most issues that require considerable thought, is...
I highly recommend the essay by C. S. Lewis titled "Why I Am Not A Pacifist," which is now a chapter in the book "The Weight of Glory."
"Why I Am Not A Pacifist" was originally a speech delivered by C. S. Lewis at Oxford during the Second World War, and it is as relevant to Christians today as...
If your budget was a little higher, I'd recommend the HK P2000 hands-down.
Out of all the guns you listed, I'd recommend the FNP-9, though in the "M" variant (FNP-9M). It's a very sweet firearm. CZ P-01 after that.
I've owned a few USP pistols (both fullsize and compact). They were nice guns, but the P2000 was the first HK to really amaze me. I think you made a good choice.
Enjoy that P2000!
The P2000 V3 in 9mm is my favorite handgun...period. I've sold all my Glocks since buying my first P2000 last fall. A couple of weeks ago I picked up a second P2000 "just because."
I don't think you'll be disappointed. But if you are, send me a message and I might take it off your hands.
A year ago I probably would have said Glock 19.
But I'm starting to think that the HK P2000 has surpassed it in almost every way. If mine continue to perform like they have for the past several months, I think they just might deserve a spot at the top of the "greatest" list. Glock aims for...
I picked up the same 550 round Federal bulk pack of .22 at Wal-Mart last week. My Ruger Mark III Hunter was jamming every other magazine (and sometimes twice per magazine). I didn't have problems with any other brand.
It does indeed sound like there is a problem with Federal .22 ammo.
Some interesting posts here. And some of you are more "complicated" that I ever was! Nothing wrong with that, though. I'm discovering more and more that I'm just not the collector type. I can't stand owning guns that I don't shoot often. And I don't have the time or money to shoot very often. So...
I have a pistol out on permanent loan to my brother-in-law, who has been on the receiving end of several death threats lately. But for me this is the exception, not the norm.
A big +1. I sold my all my USP pistols after getting the P2000. I just never shot them anymore.
The P2000 frame would make for an excellent single-stack .45 ACP, though HK would probably have to lengthen the barrel slightly.
I know a few people who have turned in crappy guns from their early shooting days. In most cases, they had learned the hard way that Jennings and Lorcin didn't make good guns.
Most of the people I know who took their guns to the buyback put the money they earned toward a new Glock or S&W or...
I wasn't under the impression that this bill allowed concealed carry inside a courtroom. I'm far more concerned about city parks and the DMV than I am a courtroom.
I'm a little surprised to see CDNN taking a stance like this. Most of the other firearms they sell are potentially far more deadly than any of their handguns. I can kind of understand it if they're concerned about the media pointing to them as an example of "how easy it is to get any kind of...
